We really have to applaud Portia de Rossi for sharing her struggles and experiences with the public, because she's helping a lot of young women by speaking out about eating disorders and her sexuality.

Portia appeared on wife Ellen DeGeneres' talk show this week to chat about her new book, Unbearable Lightness: A Story of Loss and Gain, and the ladies got emotional when talking about Portia's battle with bulimia. Portia revealed the shocking details of her eating disorder, which at one point had her weighing just over 80 pounds.

Portia told the audience, "I have changed so much since I met Ellen. I used to think the way to be strong was to be tough, the way to be independent was to not need anyone. But she's taught me that the more vulnerable you are the softer you are, the more you allow people into your life and into your heart, the happier you are and the more valuable you are to other people."

Ellen said, "I read her book and learned about the self loathing and how much she hated herself it shocked me and broke my heart. I had no idea how much had hated herself. This book is so much more, it's a book about self esteem and accepting self." Ellen added, "'For her to not only draw attention to herself but to expose herself in this way is really huge, I'm so proud of you."
