Wesley Snipes Begins Three Year Prison Sentence

Actor Wesley Snipes is now in the custody of federal authorities to begin his three year prison sentence for tax-related crimes.
The 48-year-old actor surrendered to authorities this morning, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Snipes was convicted in 2008 of three misdemeanor counts of willfully failing to file federal tax returns.
Prosecutors in the case were able to prove that the actor obstructed the IRS and tried to avoid paying millions of dollars in federal taxes.
Snipes, who has appeared in numerous movies like the Blade series, U.S. Marshals and White Men Can't Jump, tried for years to appeal his conviction, but was unsuccessful.
