It may have come as a shock that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban welcomed a baby girl, Faith Margaret (via a surrogate) last month. But it's no surprise to us that Nicole has been wanting a second child with husband Keith Urban for quite some time.

In fact, in January of 2010, X17online spotted Nicole leaving the California Fertility Partners clinic in Brentwood, with a disappointed look on her face.

Did she engage the services of a "gestational carrier" after fertility treatments failed for the 43 year-old?

We contacted California Fertility Partners, who told us that they do not comment on any patients. But surrogates who use their clinic need to be in Los Angeles for the first trimester for monitoring, so since Nicole and Keith's baby was delivered in Nashville, it seems likely that Nicole turned to surrogacy after the fertility treatments failed.

But luckily the happy couple succeeded in having what's sure to be another gorgeous baby! And they've been sharing their good news with the rest of Nicole's family, who flew from Australia to LA, where Nicole and Keith have been staying, last week to meet the little tot.

The couple already have a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter Sunday Rose, whom Nicole delivered herself. Kidman had admitted to having a miscarriage during her marriage to Tom Cruise, with whom she has two adopted children, Isabella and Connor.
