Amy Adams is going from working with The Muppets to starring alongside the Man of Steel.

The 36-year-old actress has signed on to play Lois Lane in director Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman movie, according to the LA Times.

Snyder tells the paper:

"There was a big, giant search for Lois. We did a lot of auditioning, but we had this meeting with Amy Adams, and after that I just felt she was perfect for it. What's important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today's audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance]."

Zack Snyder reportedly told the actress she had been selected for the part while he was in Paris promoting his latest film Sucker Punch.
