The elimination of Planned Parenthood was at the center of the heated budget debate this week in the Senate, and Scarlett Johansson, who had reportedly exchanged e-mails with President Obama during the 2008 election (which he later denied), got into the fray with a new PSA for the non-profit organization.

Putting on her most serious face, Scarlett urged women to sign a petition opposing the new legislation that stripped the organization of $300 million in federal funding.

"The House passed a bill to eliminate our country's family planning program and to stop Planned Parenthood health centers from receiving any federal money to provide life-saving preventative care," ScarJo says in the video. "That means no money for cervical cancer screenings and breast exams. No money for testing and treatment of STDs, not even testing for HIV. No money for birth control."

Even though it was a huge sticking point for both sides, the government did eventually reach a compromise on the budget at the last hour, avoiding a shut-down.
