The UK's The Sun is reporting that Amy Winehouse's family believes she may have died from going cold turkey in an effort to fight her alcohol addiction.

Reportedly, a family source says that Amy ignored her doctor's advice to cut down on her heavy drinking gradually and wean herself off of alcohol. Instead, she went cold turkey, and her body could not handle the dramatic withdrawal.

Her loved ones believe a seizure killed her (recovering alcoholics can suffer from seizures.)

The "Rehab" singer, 27, died at her London home on July 23. The source said Winehouse's father, Mitch, believed the theory.

"He [Mitch] said doctors had told Amy to gradually reduce her intake of alcohol and to avoid bingeing at all costs. Amy told him she couldn't do that. It was all or nothing and she gave up completely. ... the shock of giving up, after everything she had been through over a bad few years, was just too much for her to take."

Toxicology results from Winehouse's autopsy will not be available for several weeks.

On Thursday, Mitch passed out gifts to fans at Amy's home ... gifts that surprised some. See what he handed out after the jump, and read what's next for Amy's unreleased music.
