Bobbi Kristina has gone through quite an emotional past few weeks after suffering the sudden loss of mom Whitney Houston, but now it seems she's ready to move forward by tying the knot with an old family friend.

The 19-year-old was recently photographed in Atlanta getting cozy with Nick Gordon, 22, a young man her late mom informally adopted when he was just 12 years old. Kristina even flaunted a huge flashy engagement ring this week, which is said to have belonged to The Bodyguard star, who was reportedly wearing it at the time of her death.

"The situation is beyond sad. Whitney never formally adopted Nick, but he lived with her and Bobbi Kristina from the age of twelve and they were raised like brother and sister. Nick came from a really bad background," a family friend tells US mag.

The pair were apparently "always close," but after the death of the singer, their relationship began to evolve into something more serious. Bobbi's grandma and father, Bobby Brown, are said to be extremely upset over the couple's engagement, and are worried that it wont last.

"Bobbi Kristina is still so vulnerable since her mother passed away, but Nick has become like her rock," the source adds.

Kristina, who has decided to take the steps necessary to legally change her last name from Brown to Houston, first showed off the huge rock during her interview with Oprah Winfrey, which aired last Sunday.

"I'm doing as good as I possibly can at this point. I'm just trying to keep going," Bobbi confessed to Oprah. "I can sing her music, but to hear it now, I can't. I can hear her voice telling me, 'Keep moving, baby. I got you.' She's always with me. I can always feel her with me. She used to always say, 'Do you need me?' And I said, 'I always need you.'"

Would Whitney approve of this "sibling" union?
