Chris Brown has checked into rehab just one day after being released from jail on misdemeanor assault charges.

Brown's rep said in a statement:
    "Chris Brown has elected to enter a rehab facility. His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point."


The R&B star and his bodyguard Christopher Hollosy were released without bail from a Washington, D.C. jail on Monday after their a felony assault charges were reduced to misdemeanors. The duo were arrested early Sunday morning after getting into an altercation with a man at the W Hotel who suffered a broken nose.

Brown and his bodyguard were charged with simple assault; Brown spent 36 hours in a Washington jail and was ordered to report to his California probation officer within 48 hours. The troubled singer is due in a Los Angeles court on November 20 for a probation status hearing.
