Shia LaBeouf and his lawyers are close to reaching a plea deal in his disorderly conduct case.

LaBeouf appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court on Thursday morning, and Assistant District Attorney Alyssa Russell told Judge Ann Scherzer, "Defense counsel and I are discussing a possible resolution in this case ... at this time there is still no offer or recommendation." She asked for an adjournment until September "in hopes we can come toward a disposition." The judge granted the adjournment, and all parties are due back in court on September 10.

On June 26 the 28-year-old actor was arrested during a performance of Cabaret at Studio 54 after he yelled and allegedly struck fellow patrons at the theater. When cops tried to calm him down, he reportedly screamed, “I’ll f*ck you up!" The Nymphomaniac star had apparently downed four strawberry margaritas at New York’s Iguana Club prior to the incident, and days afterwards his rep confirmed that he had started seeking treatment for alcohol abuse. We've seen him going to therapy almost every single day since his mini-meltdown, so clearly he's serious about getting back on track and that will definitely help his case. As long as he doesn't commission any more sky writing planes, anyway...

Though Shia wore a sharp brown suit at his hearing, he almost immediately changed into his usual attire and left his N.Y.C. hotel. Looks like he's headed back to Los Angeles!
