The American Music Awards were held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, and though Pitbull hosted the show, it was all about the red carpet and A-list performances. Sorry Mr. Worldwide!

One Direction emerged as the big winners of the night, snagging Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop/Rock Band and Favorite Album, and Katy Perry lost out to the boys in the Artist of the Year category, but she also won three trophies, for Favorite Female Pop/Rock Artist, Single of the Year and Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist. Too bad she wasn't there to accept her awards though! The starlet is currently in Australia for her Prismatic World Tour, so she had a legit excuse...

Taylor Swift kicked off the show with an amazing rendition of her new hit song "Blank Space," and her acceptance speech later on was just as fiery as her set! Taylor was honored with the Dick Clark Award for Excellence, and she took a major swipe at Spotify after graciously accepting the award from R&B legend Diana Ross.

"To the fans who went out and bought over a million copies of my last three albums, what you did by going out and investing in music and albums is you're saying you believe in the same thing I believe in – that music is valuable and that music should be consumed in albums and albums should be consumed as art and appreciated," she said. Well put!
