After rumors of spousal abuse, Mel B.'s husband Stephen Belafonte thought it was a good idea to speak. Upon hearing his defense, we can assure him -- that was not a good idea.

Even though he defended himself on social media a few days ago, the director now seems perplexed by any accusations of abuse. Belafonte spoke with the Daily Mail earlier today and said, “Who accused me of it, did she accuse me of it, the police, the hospital, who accused me of it? No one has accused me of anything.” Umm I think the Internet accused you of abuse, dude.

The American also said he didn't know about the rumors. He told the publication, “I never saw anything, is there something online about me? Listen I had no idea, I didn't know I have no idea, what was it New York Times, or was it the LA Times, what was it, this week, what paper was I on?”

Umm once again, Stephen, the answer is: ALL OF THE INTERNET.

Yesterday, we reported that Mel B. moved out of the London home she shared with her husband of seven years. According to Us Weekly, luggage and boxes were spotted being taken away from their shared house on Monday.

The Internet chatter sprang up after the former Spice Girl missed the Saturday taping of X-Factor due to a mysterious hospitalization in London on Thursday, and when she came back for Sunday night's episode, the former Spice Girl appeared to be sporting scratches and bruises on her body and a possible bruise on her face, which led to speculation that she had a domestic dispute with her husband Stephen Belafonte. Also adding to the rumor mill was the fact that the singer's wedding ring was noticeably absent.

"So Mel B was APPARENTLY beaten up by her husband that's why she couldn't make it last night. Hense the bruise on cheek and no wedding ring," one Twitter user wrote among the thousand tweets regarding her appearance.

Belafonte was quick to defend himself on social media, and completely denied there was any truth to the reports. "I don't usually respond to Twitter msgs but I will respond to comments of hitting my wife which I think are quite disgusting un true! Mel was very ill a bunch of doctors helped her get better if fans can't just relax B4 being negative they r not real fans of @OfficialMelB," he wrote in response.

So yeah -- Belafonte clearly already acknowledged abuse claims. This attempted backtracking just doesn't work. THE INTERNET NEVER FORGETS!
