Bruce Jenner was involved in an accident on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu yesterday that left one woman dead, and while he passed a field sobriety test, police will be checking to make sure he wasn't texting at the time the fatal crash occurred.

A woman in a white Lexus sedan was coming to a stop at a red light when Bruce rear-ended her in his black Cadillac SUV, at which point she was pushed into oncoming traffic and struck by a black Hummer. Police have determined that Bruce was not speeding, but Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lt. John Lecrivain did note that there is no evidence that Bruce was being chased by paparazzi.

Lecrivain added, "There was a possibility that paparazzi was following him at the time of the crash, but that is a very regular occurrence, and (there is) no indication at this time it was a contributing factor of the crash." At the time of the horrific accident, Jenner family sources told TMZ Bruce was being chased by as many as 5 photographers.

Sheriff Commander Michael Parker said investigators are now trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash, The L.A. County Sheriff's Department will get a search warrant for both Jenner's phone records and the phone itself. It is illegal to text and drive in California, and a few photographs show Jenner with his hand raised while behind the wheel, so it's not clear whether what he was doing at the time of impact.

Seven victims were taken to the hospital following the crash, and Bruce was escorted to the station in a cruiser, though he was released shortly afterwards.
