Uh oh!

Harvey Weinstein broke the rules when he endorsed The Revenant star Leonardo DiCaprio for an Academy Award at last night's amfAR New York Gala.

But why is that so bad? Well Weinstein is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) which means he should be unbiased -- but clearly that ain't happening.

"As an Academy member, you're not supposed to endorse anyone up for an Academy Award, but I have to say Leo DiCaprio is so amazing in The Revenant," Weinstein told the crowd. "His devotion and the way he rolls it all up into something beautiful is amazing. I've never worked with anyone who's so wonderful and so classy."

DiCaprio, who shelled out $95,000 for a 10-day trip to Mongolia at the amfAR Gala, has been having a killer awards season -- winning both the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor.

We think Leo's a shoe-in for the Oscar (his first ever!) for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role but he'll have to go head-to-head with Matt Damon, Michael Fassbender, Bryan Cranston and Eddie Redmayne.
