Authorities told NBC News yesterday that the music icon had pills in his possession at the time of death and elsewhere in his home, and local Sheriff Jim Olson told reporters that day that there were “no signs” of trauma on Prince’s body. Olson added that medical responders did not use Narcan, an emergency treatment to reverse drug overdoses, when they responded to the 911 call.

We reported last week that sources had told TMZ Prince was first prescribed the powerful painkiller Percocet in 2009 when he suffered from hip problems, and despite a corrective surgery in 2010, he became addicted to the pills. Prince was found dead in an elevator at his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, Minnesota, on April 21, and an autopsy was completed the following day. Authorities said during a press conference that it could be weeks before the results will be released, as they are running a full panel of tests to determine the cause of death.

Yesterday, reports also came out that Prince had died of AIDS ... we guess more will be revealed about what is was that ultimately dethroned Prince
