Britney Spears is not going to lie down and take it any more! The bubbly popstar is getting in touch with her anger by by going after In Touch for claiming that BritBrit was erratic at last month's VMAs .

TMZ is reporting that In Touch is getting ready to publish a story saying that "Gimme More" singer was acting oddly at the awards show, "talking and laughing to herself and using a British accent."


TMZ is also claiming that the gossip site obtained a letter from Britney's lawyer wrote to the higher ups at In Touch, warning them not to publish the story that they've working on about Britney.

According to the letter, In Touch alerted Britney's camp about the soon-to-be published story, and her lawyer wasn't having any of it. Brit's lawyer says that the story is, "utterly false, highly defamatory and completely offensive to Ms. Spears."

A source close to Britney told TMZ, the pop princess and her people are sick of "made-up" stories, especially since she's worked hard to change her life since her troubles in 2007/2008 and has worked hard to be a good mother to her sons.

The source adds that if In Touch does run the story, Britney's lawyer will sue the mag and that this will be the first of many lawsuits in order to stop outlets from lying about the songstress. .

TMZ reached out to In Touch, as of yet there is no comment.
