Think before you get inked!

Ben Affleck made an appearance on Ellen, set to air today, and the actor felt the need to defend his massive back tattoo after being ruthlessly trolled on the Internet about it when it went viral. If you haven't seen a pic of the giant multicolored phoenix covering his entire back, you should google it NOW!

"It’s not something that I sort of kept private, It wasn’t like I was doing photoshoots or whatever, we were two hours north of the city on an island in Hawaii and we didn’t know the paparazzi were there. So they got a picture of my tattoo. And sentiment ran … you know, against," he explained to the talk show host.

"It represents something important to me. It’s meaningful to me, I like it. I love my tattoo. I’m very happy with it. Luckily, I’m the one who has it," he added.

The Oscar winner also touched on the rough past couple months, and how he emerged from his battle with alcoholism stronger than ever.

"There’s temptation to get like — I could depressed, I could be like, ‘I’ve been through a lot. That was hard, this was hard,’ or I could be kind of embarrassed. But I have to say, I feel so good right now. I’m in such a great place, kids are healthy, life is good. So whatever it took for me to get to this place, I’m grateful for," he revealed.

There's always laser tat removal if he gets tired of talking about this!
