Adam Lambert Tells Ellen: "I Would Never Intend to Disrespect Anybody"

Posted on Tue Dec 1, 2009 11:42 AM PDT

Adam Lambert sat down with Ellen DeGeneres this morning to continue promoting his new record and to discuss that infamous AMAs performance, and when asked about all the drama, Adam said, "I think in hindsight, I look back on it and I go, 'Okay, maybe that wasn't the best first impression to make again.'" Maybe not, but we think way too big of a deal is being made out of it, and so did Ellen! She remarked, "If you're going to be offended by a show of sexuality onstage, then you should be offended by all shows of sexuality." We couldn't agree more!

Adam added, "I respect people and I feel like people walked away from that feeling disrespected, and I would never intend to disrespect anybody." That sounds pretty sincere to us!

Do you agree with Ellen?

Absolutely! Good for Ellen. She made a great point. The other performers that night and their dancers were certainly doing plenty of pelvic thrusts!

That spectacle was irritating and dumb. All he did was scream in the most horrible and ridiculous way and then grab someone's head and shove it in his crotch. Wow. Amazing talent. Give me a break, screaming queen.

I agree completely with the second comment! It was absolutely ridiculous to perform like that! Come on...we are all adults and we know what goes on when sex takes place, whether it be between a man and woman, or people of the same sex. We don't need to see it on stage at the awards!!!!!LOL Save that for private concerts!

Yes, I agree with Ellen. I admit he wasn't his usual self on the AMAs, but did the person above who commented on him even watch him on anything else? Check out utube. He has some beautiful songs there. Adam is great!! Thanks Ellen.

She's got a point. I'm just disgusted that "entertainment" these days is SOOOO intertwined with SEX. Even sitcoms in the formerly-designated "Family Hour" (early pm primetime) make all their jokes about sex. Believe it or not, there is much more to life for gays or str8s either one!

Posted by: Anonymous

Exactly!!! I sure did watch his other performances and happen to think he is a very talented singer; however he used the AMA's to insinuate sexual acts and that is VERY wrong when infact he does come from Idol and there are plenty of children watching the awards.

Posted by: Trina

Johnny Depp "comes from" 21 Jump Street. Should that define him for the rest of his career? Whose kids are watching Tv that late on a Sunday anyway??

Posted by: Anonymous

What ever!!! Lots of children are watching the awards, or replays of the awards. They should have left him singing in the gay dumps where they found him!LMAO

Posted by: Anonymous

My child can scream better than this no talent having butt pirate! We could careless about his sexual preference, but to bring it to the AMA's was just another stupid self-serving "in your face" gay act!! We no more want to see straight people & their sexcapade's on TV than we do some sick disgusted duke shoot boy, screaming like John Holmes was foot deep in Lamberts dark dirty hole!!!!

I didn't think what he did was a big deal and he's a good singer. Homophobia is still obviously a problem though judging from a few of the comments here. I think that's the bigger story.

Posted by: Anonymous

okay.. but acting like another guy is giving you head on stage is taking it overboard... you don't even see rappers doing that in their music videos or performances.. it was COMPLETELY out of line... is the guy who writes for x17 gay? just curious... cause you seem to hate all the conservative celebrities and love all the liberal ones.

Posted by: Anonymous

Well said to the above comment! Like I said before, its no surprise what takes place in sex for gays, straights etc. but WHY on earth display it like that at the awards! Its about respect and evidently he or anybody else who agrees he was right.....doesn't know what that is! He can do that at his private concerts where people pay to see his crap! We don't need it on regular TV so kids can see faced being shoved into a crotch.

Posted by: Anonymous

No shit sherlock... Homophopia is still an issue today.. if anything it's more of an issue than it has ever been! and you don't see girls acting like their getting eaten out by a guy! it's just wrong... keep oral sex to yourself! i don't have to see it... the entertainment industry is soo driven by sex... what happened to creativity?

Posted by: Anonymous

This talentless homosexual needs to go far, far away. We don't need his kind around.

Posted by: Anonymous

These two degenerates should stop annoying people with their gay propaganda and get a room they are perfect for each other

Posted by: Anonymous

Getting a room should be the "idea" for ALL, instead they bring their gay disgusting acts to the awards!!!!!!

Posted by: Anonymous

Just keep it behind closed doors and no one will have a problem....Problem Solved

Posted by: Anonymous

Keeping it behind closed doors for any type of sexuality is key. I could care less if they are gay or straight. I was just as disgusted by the chic who humped the speakers and by janet grabbing a guys crotch. I am offended by a disgraceful display of what should be a private thing.

Posted by: Anonymous

thank you Ellen for saying that .. ppl should grow up and stop this homophobia .. what he did wasn't shocking that much dahhh Gay guys kiss !! why women can do it not men !! it makes no sense what so ever ..

Adam was so amazing here and humble and i was touched by the whole episode with him talking and performing what a great guy and amazing talent ..

Posted by: Anonymous

Lmao at keeping it behind closed doors. Such puritans. Close your eyes and think of England, eh? You all sound like a ball of fun.

I like him & think he did a great job in this interview. His performance was a little over the top, but he learned from it. There is definitely a double standard when it comes to this. He did no different than Madonna has done for years & we have all accepted her.

I totally agree with the comment just above mine. I love Adam. I think he is very talented and very good looking. I voted for him over and over on Idol. I enjoyed his performance on the AMAs.

I am saddened by all the homophobes on this site. But, I'm not surprised. Someone on here referred to Heidi Klum's and Seal's new baby girl as a monkey!!! 2009 and we still have so far to go.

and for the record, I'm a straight, white middle aged woman.

Posted by: Anonymous

When will these heterophobes stop, do what you want but dont impose your opinion and perversion on others, enough already

Posted by: Anonymous

He's still fatboy! He can't dance or sing or perform.. he's just winging it.

Posted by: Anonymous

Why doesn't Ellen do the Lesbian version of this song to show us how mudane and harmless it is?

Posted by: Anonymous

Hey adam, forcing your sexuality down hetersexual's throats will meet the same results as forcing your man juice down their throats...the only person getting off on it is you!

Posted by: Anonymous

Adam is a huge talent and a beautiful guy and if you don't get that everybody - get your head tested!!!

NO i am just disgusted at GAY people--YES I SAID IT. 95% of the population feels the same!
whats next legalizing pedophila?
IMMORAL

Posted by: Anonymous

Stop discriminating against pedophiles. They can't help it they were born that way, and they have fewer (no) rights than the poo-stabbers.

X17 Poll

What went wrong on The X Factor today with Britney Spears?

Britney definitely had another meltdown. This is proof she's not ready to step back into the spotlight!
I think Britney may have overreacted to a bad audition, but it will be entertaining to watch later!
I think Simon Cowell planned this all along. Brit probably even rehearsed it!
