Alex Rodriguez Suspended For The Entire 2014 MLB Season

Jan 12, 2014 02:45 PM

Despite his attempts to appeal the decision, it appears Alex Rodrigues will be suspended for the entire 2014 Major League Baseball season.

The 38-year-old Yankees ball player got his original drug suspension cut down to 162 games from 211 by arbitrator Fredric Horowitz on Saturday. He will also be sidelined for any postseason games this year under the ruling announced, which will cost him $25 million out of the remaining $86 million on his contract.

"The number of games sadly comes as no surprise, as the deck has been stacked against me from day one," he said. "This is one man's decision, that was not put before a fair and impartial jury, does not involve me having failed a single drug test, is at odds with the facts and is inconsistent with the terms of the Joint Drug Agreement and the Basic Agreement, and relies on testimony and documents that would never have been allowed in any court in the United States because they are false and wholly unreliable."

"No player should have to go through what I have been dealing with, and I am exhausting all options to ensure not only that I get justice, but that players' contracts and rights are protected through the next round of bargaining, and that the MLB investigation and arbitration process cannot be used against others in the future the way it is currently being used to unjustly punish me," he continued.

The three-time AL MVP was given the 211-game penalty by Commissioner Bud Selig back on Aug. 5 following the league's investigation of the Biogenesis of America anti-aging clinic, which was accused of distributing banned performance-enhancing drugs.

Alex Rodriguez Keeps His Head Up At LAX During Baseball Ban

Despite recent troubles, Alex Rodriguez kept his head up when he arrived in Los Angeles on Saturday after spending his New Year's in St. Barth.

2013 was quite the trying time for A-Rod. On August 5, Major League Baseball came down heavily on the sports star, suspending him through the 2014 baseball season. Rodriguez's 211-game ban was a result of a doping scandal surrounding the South Florida anti-aging clinic Biogenesis. Twelve other players, including All-Stars : Nelson Cruz of the Texas Rangers, Everth Cabrera of the San Diego Padres and Jhonny Peralta of the Detroit Tigers, were suspended others for 50 games -- but the MLB's heavy baseball bat came down harshest on the Yankee.

"Obviously, I'm disappointed with the news today," Rodriguez said at a news conference at the time. "What we've always fought for is the process and I think we have that, and I think at some point we'll sit in front of an arbiter and we'll give our case. That's as much as I feel comfortable saying right now."

The 38-year-old called the seven months prior to the MLB's decision a "nightmare." The sports star added, "Probably the worst time of my life for sure. Obviously, for the circumstances that are at hand, and dealing with a tough surgery and a rehab program and being 38."

New Book Claims Alex Rodriguez Cheated On Cameron Diaz With Hookers

Oct 17, 2013 11:01 AM

Apparently Alex Rodriguez has a thing for hookers -- especially ones that come in pairs, at least that's what a new book about one of New York's poshest apartment buildings alleges. The book called House Of Outrageous Fortune: Fifteen Central Park West, The World's Most Powerful Address, by Michael Gross claims that the Yankee often hired escorts, often two at at time, while living in an ultra exclusive $30,000-a-month apartment on the Upper East Side in 2010.

In the book, a building worker told Gross that the controversial baseball player, "got hookers all the time," even while with his movie star girlfriend Cameron Diaz. "Usually two at a time, two times a week. One time he had two go up, they came down and left, and 10 minutes later, Cameron Diaz walks in," the worker told the author.

Ron Berkowitz, A-Rod's spokesman told the New York Post that the allegations were, "categorically false. ... This is a further effort to fabricate scandal around Alex."

Other A-listers that shared the same address as A-Rod include Sting, Denzel Washington Bob Costas and a handful of Wall Street bigwigs.

Alex Rodriguez and girlfriend Torrie Wilson partied it up in Miami the other night, but when it was time to head home, the Yankees star pulled a Leonardo and walked several strides ahead of her. Aww, no pictures together?

While Torrie is a bit more muscular than most gals out there (she is a retired professional wrestler), she's definitely a hottie, so we're not sure why A-Rod is so camera shy about the whole thing!
