Posted on Fri Jul 1, 2011 12:45 PM PDT
New York Yankee's ballplayer Alex Rodriguez took part in illegal poker games with Hollywood's A-list celebrities, according to Star.
Professional poker player Adam Bilzerian, 27, tells the mag:
- "I was surprised to see just how good a poker player Alex is. A-Rod won a bunch of money."
A-Rod reportedly had a buy-in of $40,000 during a recent Texas Hold 'em game.
Howard M. Ehrenberg, a trustee for Ruderrman Capital Partners, has named actor Tobey Maguire in a lawsuit alleging the Spiderman star was also involved in an underground gambling ring. Tobey has denied the allegations.

Bilzerian tells Star:
- "I remember I was sitting at a table a few years ago at the Bellagio in Vegas and in comes Alex and the dude sat at the same table that I'm playing at. The average buy-in was about $5,000 but you could buy-in for a $100,000 if you wanted too. There were about seven other players at the table. Alex busted everyone except me. I was like whoa, this guy can play. He had an amazing run. He won about $20,000 and left with everyone's money."
