Amanda's Dear John Could Claim Top Spot From Avatar This Weekend

Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum's Dear John seems set to topple box office behemoth Avatar for the first time in eight weeks this weekend.
The Nicholas Sparks adaptation earned $13.8 million on Friday alone according to Variety, beating Avatar's Friday take. The record-smashing Jim Cameron film, which is poised to battle his ex's The Hurt Locker for best picture at the Oscars, has enjoyed a 7-week run as number one.
Titanic was king of the box office for 15 weeks. We have a feeling, thanks to Dear John, this is one Titanic number that Avatar won't surpass.
