Copyright Lawsuit Won't Affect Release Date Of Angelina Jolie's New Film

Angelina Jolie is being sued by Croatian journalist James Braddock over claims that In the Land of Blood and Honey violates the copyright on his book, The Soul Shattering, but now it's being reported that the lawsuit won't interfere with the December 23rd release of her directorial debut.
Braddock has withdrawn his motion for a temporary restraining order on the film's release after the judge sided with the film's distributor last week, and more importantly, the judge has ordered Braddock's lawyers to turn in a brief by tomorrow explaining why the case should proceed in Illinois federal court rather than California.
U.S. District Judge Robert Dow Jr. noted that the connection to the jurisdiction in Illinois "appears to be minimal, at best", and The Hollywood Reporter notes that the transfer would be "a small victory for Jolie and the film's producers" because California is notorious for throwing out copyright infringement claims, and in many cases, plaintiffs bringing the lawsuit have been ordered to pay attorney's fees for the defense.
Jolie's distributor, FilmDistrict, pointed out that Braddock had represented that he knew about the making of the film since early 2010, but waited until now to take legal action. Judge Dow added that there were valid concerns about the timing of the lawsuit and that the plaintiff hadn't yet shown that "immediate and irreparable harm would result" from the film's release. So how does Jolie feel about all this? She recently stated that she's never read Braddock's book, and that the lawsuit is "par for the course. It happens on almost every film."

So all of these major critics awards have started, NY, LA, Boston, SF and there is not one nomination for this film, despite the fact that the media keeps saying the film has awards buzz. Makes me wonder if Angie doesn't trade access for favorable media coverage.
And might that be why the mainstream media has refused to cover this copyright story? I've only seen it mentioned on a few celebrity sites so far, but nothing in the mainstream media.

He's withdrawing his motion for the film because if she makes a ton of money from it, he will get more money from her by claiming she screwed him out of what was rightfully his. And she did all the work, getting the film out there, and he wants to get paid for it. I am no Jolie fan, and it seems to me that since Braddock and her people (the producer I think) got together, prior to her filming it, and discussed the book he wrote, there's a big possibility he has a real case. Just not sure yet whether she knew about the book. Maybe she had a idea that her producer helped her bring to fruition, possibly without her knowing she was being "steered" into making a movie with the same story as his book. One - it wouldn't shock me that she would believe it was all her idea, with just a touch of outside inspiration. Two - it also wouldn't shock me to see her take all the credit, coming up with the story, when she should also give credit to someone else who "helped her envision" the whole story.
