Why do these so-called "Stars" insist on putting out a Press Release detailing how much money they donated to a particular cause?

she is the goodwill ambassador for UNHCR and it's her duty to go...not a photo op...and announcing donations often encourages fans to do the same...so it's a good thing!!

If I were going to Haiti it wouldn't be
for a day or two to just talk. That's
just a waste of money even if it is to
call attention to it. Think of how many
that money would feed in a poor country
like that. Who's getting the attention,
looks like her to me. We are all aware of what happen and have already donated.
The real hero's are the workers, the
military and the people that are in
the trenchs doing the actual work. She's
sitting in office talking to the President while the others are out doing

Why doesn't she do some good for the people in this country? There are millions of children in the United States going without proper food and shelter. Don't even get me started on the piss poor public education system, especially for special needs children. Why is it that these celebrities care so much for the other under privileged children of the world and not the under privileged children that are right under their own noses? There are millions of kids going to under funded public schools, using out dated text books, sharing school supplies, and barely passing the national average but nobody cares about that? Western Kentucky was without power for almost 2 months last year due to an ice storm and I didn't see them holding telethons and making huge cash donations to get those poor people heat and clean water. All they got was food poisoning from FEMA's rancid peanut butter.
If these "celebrities" really want to be "humanitarians", they should help the people who actually pay their salaries by watching their crappy over priced movies!

When you talk badly of a person or persons, especially celebrities it just shows the level of jealousy people have towards them. Is it because they are living a life that you want, money, freedom, cars, clothes, travel etc , etc. You would think that Angelina is the only women to (as you people seem to think) take a man away from someone, that is just being plain stupid, many of many celebrities have taken someone’s girlfriend or boyfriend or husband or wife. I think she travels to these places to draw attention to them - she pays for everything herself so there is no cost. I also think that people are more inclined to donate if there favourite celebs are involved with a charity.

Angelina not only donate her money but also takes time out to personally visit and address the issue, that is the job of Goodwill Ambassador. Some other celebraties may donate but they do not personally visit these disastrous zone.

I'm wondering why these celebrities always want to help the Africans first. I have nothing against helping Africans or Haitians or whomever, but how about starting in our own backyard FIRST?
