Angelina Jolie To Play Child Killer In New Film

Angelina Jolie may sign on to play the titular character in Darren Aronofsky's next film, Serena, where she'd play a woman who goes mad after she's unable to conceive, and tries to murder her husband's illegitimate child.
THR reports that the script, written by frequent Kathryn Bigelow collaborator Chris Kyle, is a There Will Be Blood-style adaptation of the book "Serena: A Novel" by Ron Rash, set in the mountains of 1929 North Carolina.
The script is currently seeking financing, and could be the next project in line for Jolie after she wraps up shooting on The Tourist.
The role sounds like a departure for the mom-of-six, who usually plays either crusading mothers or kickass assassins (of adults.)

Wrong role for her. Mad she is already, and kids she has too. And she is at a point of breaking down... Then that role??
I agree. Taking this role looks like a warning to Brad, "Don't push me over the edge!"
I thought she was going to retire, or at least work less to spend more (quality) time w/ the kids ? "Salt" was over just a couple of months ago, she is starting "The Tourist", then it will be Patricia Cornwell and after, that ? What a joke!
Oooh! I can't wait! She's great at playing crazy. She did an amazing job in Girl Interrupted.

I agree with those who suggest this may not be the best choice for her. Aronofsky is supposed to be a brutally demanding director. And she a child-killer? No. She should do a really funny comedy/spoof/caper type film next, with Clooney, Clive Owen, Sean Penn, and Julia Roberts, with a cameo for Brad as someone who steals her away from the male bunch above. Just need a super script. But that combination would be dynamite. No child killer role for Angie - no,no, no, no!
