Angelina Jolie To Play Cleopatra

Angelina Jolie will be starring in the upcoming movie Cleopatra, according to the film's producer Scott Rudin.
A project focusing on the Queen of the Nile "is being developed for and with Jolie," the producer tells USA Today.
The movie has been in development since 2006, and according to Rudin, Jolie has "the perfect look" to play the character.
Elizabeth Taylor played the Egyptian queen back in 1963. Can Angelina do the part justice? I'm sure Brad Pitt would bow down to the idea. All hail, Queen Angie!

CLEOPATRA was an exceptionally well-made movie.
The historical advisors back then were tops and in one scene you can even see a replica of Pharaoh's fabled lighthouse.
Most people would not know this unless they are historians or history buffs.
This film cannot be remade or made better, it would be too expensive nowadays.

Cleopatra was Egyption, not black. She had dark skin, not the pasty white skeletor look but make up can transform anyone.

I feel like this is a rumor the producer is spreading. Aren't industry publications, like Variety, usually the ones who know if somebody signed on or in talks with a movie? This seem out of the blue and I can't picture Angelina wanting or taking the role.

Egypt is in Africa XD so yeah, it's sure that she had dark skin. Almost black. I don't understand the fear of white people to agree that such a character was dark-skinned HA. Rosario Dawson would have been a good pick for the role too but she isn't a headliner or great actress like Angelina.

No possible way. Movie goers would flock to see it just because Jolie was in it. Liz Taylor was awesome in the part and to do it with Jolie would ruin it. I definitely would not waste my money to see it.
