Angelina Jolie Visits Refugee Camps In Turkey And Italy

Angelina Jolie, acting in her capacity as an ambassador for the UN High Commission for Refugees, visited a Syrian refugee camp in Turkey Friday and a camp for Tunisian and Libyan refugees in Lampedusa, Italy on Saturday in honor of World Refugee Day.
The actress thanked Italians today for opening their doors to more than 40,000 displaced citizens since the beginning of the year.
Jolie said to reporters: "We've spoken about our shared concerns about making sure asylum claims are processed as quickly as possible so no one is sitting in a prison-like situation and waiting on a decision about their status. They are not asking to go to any particular country, they just want to find safety to work and to have freedom."

Let's hear from the people on the ground, the doctors and aide workers who are putting their lives on the line to make a difference and the refugees who are living through hell every day. Putting some celeb front and center does not raise the profile of the tragedy.

She's a hero for expressing concern? And so, she goes home to her mansion to relax, after such a long exausting trip. Wonder what she had for supper tonight, or what time the nannies put the kids to bed in the mansion, while the little kids she just left in other countries, go to bed on the ground with empty stomachs. It's like a preacher asking a hard working laborer to help the needy, as he eats a full coarse meal of steak and lobster in his multimillion dollar mansion. I'm so tired of the rich getting so much undue credit. They happen to be very good actors. I for one, would have to do without something I need, in order to help others. Just exactly, how much is Jolie doing without in order to help them? And the (rich) ministers? They're all phony's. Also, if the woman weren't traveling to make her appearances there, she'd be off somewhere else. Her and Pitt are always on the go, showing their kids the world, while other kids go hungry.
I didn't like her before Pitt, and I sure don't like her now.
I wish she could just fund the refugees and get them where they need to go. This photo op is no different than the St. Johns or Louis Vuitton ones she poses for. She's confusing philanthropy with celebrity and its down right annoying. Nothing comes of these photo ops other than her self-serving need for public approval.

i can't stand her ! if she really cares about people she should stop her carrer and spend her time near them. Instead she's back home two days later and will soon wear a beautiful and expensive dress
So, what exactly did her visits accomplish for these poor people? Amazing, amazing, amazing, how much undue credit she gets for showing concern. She's an actress. We've seen those same looks in her "dark,so dramatic" movies.
People people remember this: this woman is bringing cameras there helping bring awareness to these causes. She also donates a good part of her salary to a lot of different causes. Yes, including the US. And no there are plenty who say her & Brad only donate 5 - 10% of their salary. Looking @ some public records they donate quite a bit more than that. Who are we to judge. She is doing a hell of a lot more than the Paris' & Kim K's of Hollywood.
