Our troops were sure happy and excited to spend time with her. Giving an ear to the refugees and their difficult lives is important to their sense of dignity.
These trips are responsible for really uppin the UN donations as well as other organizations involved in refugee work. DOes anyine here make use of their heads or do they just snark about other peoples' heads?

To 6:29PM - She was in Iraq for ONE day - hardly long enough to have a negative impact on her hair or even demanding enough to damage her manicure & pedicure. And she just got off a plane after traveling first class - again, hardly exhausting. Also, the woman is in no danger when she travels to these war torn countries - she is surrounded by UN personnel and photographers (hardly a likely target). I am not putting down what she does - but get a grip - these visits ARE photo ops, hence all the pictures, for which she gets praise and recognition. Everything is paid for. If offered the same deal, wouldn't you do it?

I am a soldier stationed in Iraq. We were ordered to line up for her visit. None of us wanted to see her. The people of Iraq don't really know who she is. She only talked to the senior officers. We were glad to see her leave.

Look up the per centage of the money you
donate to UN and see how much actually
goes to the people that need help. It's
actually very low. Most of it goes for
big wages, entertainment expenses and
publicity. There was a acticle about it
not long ago.

Actually I don't care how much money she
gives away or if she gives any. I just
fail to see how a very expense trip to
Iraq and you only stay a day really helps anything. If you weren't all ready
aware of their needs before you probably
won't care now. I just don't think one
day each year for a visit is going to
take care of anything except give her
more publicity. Out of three years she
has been there three days and then goes
back to her mansion. It's money wasted
that could have gone to buy housing, food and other things that are really
necessary.

It was her third trip. a follow trip to see how things had changed since her last visit. If conditions have improved and if not..why. She then reports back to the UNHCR.. she has been doing this since 2001. She usually stays longer than a day..but now she has 6 kids.. she cuts it down as much as possible.

UNHCR does not pay for her missions. She pays for them out of her own pocket unlike other celebrity ambassadors.

As for money donated.. she has been donating to UNHCR yearly since she started with them usually specifically to camps she has visited providing them with something they personally needed. It is on their website under field missions. Add those donations to the Millennium Village in Cambodia, the school in Cambodia, the mine clearing program in Cambodia, the clean water initiative in Cambodia, the Wild Life Preserve, the school in Kenya, the clinic in Ethiopia, the clinic in Darfur, and all the other charities that she supports yearly.

I think she does far more than her share of helping people vs shopping for tiaras for a lap dog like the majority of spoiled hollywood.

All this egomaniac does is for her own benefit and self-promotion, it is sad that she is using people with serious problems for that

Why is LeAnn Rimes a homewrecker & Angelina is a wonderful beautiful person back form Iraq? Did X17 forget that she too is a homewrecker?? I get so sick of hearing about how good she is. Well, LeAnn, all you have to do is adopt about 10 kids & go to Iraq & you too will be a Good Mother & Saint!!

If we are not able to do something helpful for the people in need, then we should not be critizizing her. Us regular joes do what we can, sponsor a child, donate a few times a year to cancer, arthirits, diabetes charities to name a few because we only make what, $30,000- $60,000 a year? Her kids outfits for the week probably cost that so it's hardly called for to point the finger at us for not being able to fly across the world to check on refugees and soldiers. And if it's not a publicity stunt get the cameras out of your face. What the hell do you need pictures of yourself over there for?
