It's official -- Anne Hathaway and James Franco will be hosting the 83rd annual Academy Awards in February!
Oscar producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer released the following statement this morning:
- "James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons -- fresh, exciting and multi-talented. We hope to create an Oscar broadcast that will both showcase their incredible talents and entertain the world on February 27. We are completely thrilled that James and Anne will be joining forces with our brilliant creative team to do just that."
We think this is a GREAT move on the part of the Academy, because what better way to lure in younger viewers than to pick two of today's hottest stars to host the show? Anne was awesome in Love And Other Drugs, and James is getting plenty of Oscar buzz for his role in 127 Hours, so maybe one (or both!) of them will walk away with a statue?
We'll definitely watch this year!
