Anne Hathaway On Her Dramatic Weight Loss For Les Miserables: "The Idea Was To Look Near Death"

Anne Hathaway graces the cover of Vogue Magazine's December issue, and the newly married starlet talks about her role in Les Miserables and the dramatic transformation she underwent to play the character of Fantine.
On chopping off her long brunette locks for the role, Anne says, “I love the short-haired lifestyle. The only downside is having to get a hair cut every three weeks. But I’m turning 30, and — I hope this isn’t obnoxious to say — I feel prettier, and much more myself. I guess I just feel much more satisfied with less now.”
And her hair wasn't the only thing she lost! Anne had to drop a whopping 25 pounds for the film, and various websites reported that she was consuming just 500 calories a day. "I had to be obsessive about it," she said. "The idea was to look near death. Looking back on the whole experience — and I don’t judge it in any way — it was definitely a little nuts. It was definitely a break with reality, but I think that’s who Fantine is anyway."
While Anne looks stunning on the cover, check out her Fantine-inspired shots in the gallery below. They're definitely, um, interesting!
We can't wait to see Anne back on the big screen, but we also can't wait for her hair to grow out. Sorry!
