Starring in one of TV's most popular and critically-acclaimed sitcoms is no easy feat.

Modern Family's Ariel Winter devoted some much-deserved time to herself during her day off yesterday. The actress and her sister Shanelle Workman got pampered at a nail salon in Studio City with a massage and mani-pedi before heading to the gym. Ariel wore short shorts, a camo cap, and a red zip-up jacket, while her sister sported spanx and a tank.

Now under the legal custody of her big sis and brother-in-law, the 15-year-old looked happy and healthy. She was removed from their parents' care last November amid accusations that her mom and dad were physically and emotionally abusive. Her mom has denied the allegations. A judge will review the ongoing case in October to determine whether her mother, who is currently forbidden from communicating with her, is fit to regain guardianship.

"I didn't know my sister much growing up, and I wasn't really allowed to see her," she told Teen Vogue in December. "I know now that my sister is the type of person I'd aspire to grow up to be like. It's really interesting how close you can get with somebody in such a short period."

Court documents filed by Shanelle included allegations that their mother insulted Ariel's weight and deprived her of food.

"I had body insecurities when I was younger," she told the magazine. "I still do. Every girl has insecurities -- mine were heightened at the time because my mother wasn't supportive. Now, my sister is always making sure to tell me that I look beautiful."

Now that's a perfect modern family.

In other news, Winter, 14, is now reportedly enrolled at a private school in the Los Angeles area, and sources tell TMZ that Modern Family producers are willing to work around Winter's school schedule when shooting the hit ABC series. Winter had previously been privately tutored.

The 14-year-old actress will remain under the care of her sister until the Dec. 12 trial date, which will determine if she will be placed back in the guardianship of her mother Chrisoula Workman.

Workman's attorneys have made accusations that Grey is financially motivated to take care of the child star, but from the sounds of it, that couldn't be farther from the truth! Grey's husband is apparently one of the heirs to the Pepsi fortune, so cash is definitely not an issue!

What a mess this whole situation is!

The family drama continues!

A judge ruled Tuesday that Modern Family star Ariel Winter will remain in the care of her older sister Shanelle, after the actress claimed her mother Chrisoula Workman physically and emotionally abused her.

The Department of Children and Family Services reportedly found evidence of emotional abuse, but could not confirm any sort of alleged physical abuse. Due to their findings, they recommended that Winter's older sister be granted permanent guardianship.

Workman's attorney argued that her eldest daughter was "too young" and "has her own family to deal with" as reasons she is an unfit guardian, as well as insinuating that their only interest in caring for the 14-year-old was because of perceived financial gain.

A trial date has yet to be set to settle permanent custody arrangements.

Such a sad situation!

Ariel Winter got a chance to enjoy add some normalcy to her life today when she joined sister Shanelle Gray and her niece for relaxing day at the farmer's market in Studio City.

The fun-filled afternoon comes just days after the 14-year-old Modern Family actress was removed from her mother's custody due to physical and emotional abuse allegations. Her sister Shanelle is her current guardian.

Winter's mother, Chrisoula Workman, has denied the allegations, stating it as payback for her interference with Winter and her 18-year-old boyfriend Cameron Palatas. It since been reported that Workman could be trying to save face with her claims in the wake of Winter being placed under her sister's custody.
