It may seem like lots of people in the room monitoring her behaviour around the kids, but if she shows progress, it will soon narrow down to maybe 2 people, then her dr, etc. As schizoprhenia runs in my family, you have your good days and your bad days. Once you miss those meds, or don't want to take them at all, you show bizarre behaviour, hallunicate, make up stories about other people, or could have another personality. Keeping up with your meds, positive people (not leeches)and weekly progress reports from the DR, is a stepping stone to healing.

I have to admit to being a TEENY bit torn here. On the one hand I think the screwed up cow should get herself better first, so that she doesnt HAVE to have a whole entourage in her living room just to speak to her kids. On the other, those kids are young enough to forget her within 12 months.

A very large number of people who are later diagnosed as having bipolar self-medicate for years with illegal and/or prescription drugs and alcohol without understanding the reason why they do so. That isn't to say that every person with addiction problems has an underlying mental disorder like bipolar, but it is a possibility that bears looking into for some. Please, before you look at the situation and pass judgement, scroll up and look for my post about a documentary on youtube. It will take about 4 minutes of your time, and may raise some questions at least. The truth is that none of us knows the entirety of what is going on, which is as it should be because of the HIPAA laws. Yes, Britney has abused drugs and probably alcohol as well - the judge has already ruled on that. However, that does not rule out the possibility of bipolar. Incidentally, while having bipolar is a reason for out of control behavior, it is not an excuse. That's why the conservatorship came into being and why the custody judge did all the things he has done. You are right - Britney having bipolar does not absolve her of responsibility - she's done things she shouldn't have. If anything, now she has an even greater responsibility (if she has been diagnosed with that) to see that once she has been stabilized she STAYS on her meds and keeps up with whatever treatment plan is put into place. So we're not completely in disagreement... I'd be interested to hear your thoughts after you see those 4 or so minutes of that documentary piece. :-)

But an actual personality disorder...Wow, has anyone here actually tried to reason with someone who has one? There's no way to narrow it down to just a single personality disorder. And yes, I have tried to reason with people who had all of them. Schizophrenics think everyone is after them from the President of the USA down to the CIA and FBI. They think the air conditioner vents in a car have cameras in them, etc. But you can also see this in Bipolar people. Self cutting can go along as well. There is just no sure way of knowing what her symptoms are and a correct diagnosis made. I think she has multiple problems. That's about as far as I know for sure.

I'm dating myself here, but when I was in high school the "grunge" look was in. The girls wore nothing but jeans, plaid shirts and Doc Martins - it was almost assexual, in a way. But by the time I was in university, it had swung the other way. By the end of my first year, everyone was wearing tight little black pants like Shania Twain and the Spice Girls...and at the time, even wearing THOSE seemed kind of slutty. But once Britney hit the scene it all went straight down hill. Just LOOK at what girls wear in high school nowadays! I think JGlad and I are on the same wavelength without even realizing it. I wasn't offended by the content of her posts - only by the style. I guess I'm used to working from an AP style book myself (...or casually working from it, at least), and tend to be confused by the "new-fangled" ways of mixing regular writing with CAPS and **winks** (or whatever the kids call them these days!)

You're probably quite right that she was always the vixen underneath...I always got that opinion of her from the start. I remember watching one of her "Live from Hawaii" concerts (or something like that) back when she was first becoming big...she was wearing this bubble-gum pink top, and as she was walking up the stairs at the end of the last song, she turned and smiled at the audience...and for a moment I thought she was the DEVIL! She seemed SO contrived and fake...as if she was laughing on the inside about how she was "fooling" her fans.

But...I do admire her career (or former career, I guess you could say). Like Madonna, she's a marginally talented singer and dancer. But through pure marketing (along with a good dose of hard work and ambition), she's one of the most famous people on the planet, and has gotten rich in the process.
