Billy Joel is ready to ditch his lavish Mediterranean digs on Miami Beach's exclusive La Gorce Island for a cool $14.75 million.

The "Piano Man" singer's 8,881 square foot estate boasts 7 bedrooms, 8.5 baths, a gourmet chef kitchen, a wine cellar and a gorgeous swimming pool.

Joel purchased the oceanfront pad back in 2006 for $13.5 million. Celebrity neighbors include Lil Wayne and Cher.

One year has passed since Alexa Ray Joel, daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley, attempted suicide at her West Village apartment in New York.

Now speaking out on the incident, the 24-year-old tells the NY Post, "I have a flair for the dramatic."

The singer, who tried to kill herself by swallowing a handful of sleeping pills after reportedly breaking up with her boyfriend of five years, rock musician Jimmy Riot, says:

"I got caught up in my own head. It was a panic. I didn't want to die. I just didn't want to feel what I was feeling at that moment any more."

Joel, now living in NY's Nolita neighborhood, adds:

"My West Village apartment never felt like my home. It was lonely. I was out of a relationship, and I was struggling with it. It was too big for me. This feels like home."

As for how she's feeling now, she says, "I'm starting to grow a thicker skin and grow into myself, and you learn to accept your quirks and your appearance."

Sounds like she's on the right track!

Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley's daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, was hospitalized last week and is now in stable condition.

Now her famous folks have this to say:

"Every parent can imagine the pain and anguish we face as parents of a daughter who is working to recover from the dangerous actions she took while suffering a devastating heartbreak. As much as we hate dignifying tabloid stories with a response, we feel we must set the record straight to protect our family. The story that ran in the New York Post on December 8th, and has been subsequently spread across the internet, is filled with vicious lies and attempts to smear our character and that of our beloved daughter. We ask the public and legitimate media outlets to please 'consider the source' and to not further exacerbate our daughter's situation by repeating and legitimizing these false reports."

Katie Lee Joel, the much younger wife of Billy, doesn't really look as if she's too broken up over the fact that her man is on tour.

Could it be because she's got a little sumthin sumthin on the side?

The National Enquirer reports that the 27-year-old may be be shtuping an Israeli fashion designer almost half Billy's age!

"Billy is furious," a friend told the tab. "His wife's relationship with this guy is causing a split in his marriage. Initially, Billy thought it was great that she met a new friend, someone to occupy her time while he trudges through a long tour schedule. But now he's become very concerned."

Looks like Billy's on tour until November...think Katie will stick around til then?
