Bobby Brown has come to grips regarding Whitney Houston's death and the singer opened up to Ellen Degeneres on Wednesday about why he performed the same night she passed away.
"I was in Mississippi performing and I got the call. Of course, I tried to get a flight. Tried to rent a jet. Whatever I had to do but it was impossible," Brown said while on Ellen. "So I knew the best thing that she would want me to do was perform. You know, we are performers. That's what we did. That's what we do and she would want the best for me."
Critics berated Brown for his gesture on February 11, where he continued his performance on the night of his ex-wife's passing. Before he took the stage, Brown got the news and broke down backstage before finally mustering up the strength to join his New Edition bandmates.
The 43-year-old R&B singer encountered a similar scenario on February 18, the day of Whitney's funeral. Despite departing early with his family due to a mix-up at the ceremony, Brown went to his next scheduled concert in Montville, Conn. with his family by his side. While his love for performing took a front seat, he admits that he still misses his legendary singing counterpart.
"[I'll miss] her voice," Bobby said. "I mean we get to hear it everyday but just to see her sing was amazing. Where she came from with it, was amazing. That's what I'm going to miss…"
