(In a rare case of tabloids imitating life, “Poor Jen!” was knocked off her No. 1 perch this year by Jolie.) Women relate to her, says Sansing, a bond that dates back to 1994 when Aniston entered homes as flaky, likeable Rachel Green. Female fans flocked to copy Aniston’s haircut, known as “The Rachel.” And now they rally to share her pain—as well as a schadenfreude thrill.

Aniston’s position atop the tabloid pantheon was cemented with her union with Pitt, whom she met Hollywood cute in 1998 through their mutual agent. The merger of America’s Sweetheart and the World’s Sexiest Man in 2000 was a lavish event that featured a 40-person gospel choir and fireworks over the Pacific. They were the king and queen of the Hollywood prom, with matching tans and blond streaks. The scandal was likened to Eddie Fisher leaving Debbie Reynolds for Elizabeth Taylor in the ’60s. But back then there wasn’t a celebrity media complex ready to pounce on Reynolds’ every humiliation, real or imagined. For the wounded Aniston, the salt poured down, beginning with an arty 60-page photo spread in the June 2005 W titled “Domestic Bliss,” in which Pitt and Jolie presided over a band of little blond Brads.

Aniston shot back with a tearful Vanity Fair interview in which she admitted to being hurt and lonely and denied rumours that she didn’t want children: “That really pissed me off. I’ve never in my life said I didn’t want to have children. I did and I do and I will!”

I haven't watched a Pitt or Jolie movie since they began using the children and charitable giving for public relations and movie promotions. I’m selective about who I support. I’m not buy what Pitt/Jolie are selling on or off screen. Our theaters are crowded during the holiday season, so I usually pass on Dec-Jan movies. I watched the trailer for the Wilson/Aniston movie. I'll buy it on DVD. Everything Pitt/Jolie stays on the shelves.

I love Cate Blanchett. I wish she would stop making movies with Pitt. I won’t buy any movie with him in the cast.

Cate Blanchett’s first Elizabeth was better than the second. Helen Mirren’s second Elizabeth was better than the first. Both women are dignified and talented actors. Jennifer Aniston is a gifted comedian and mediocre dramatic actor. All three women are out of Angelina Jolie’s league.

As far as new movies are concerned, I want to see "Australia" with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. It has a great story and gorgeous cinematography.

Legends of the Fall had a great story and beautiful photography. It was Pitt’s best movie and the score was haunting beautiful. He had promise.

I've never chosen to see a movie based on award nominations. I can explain why in three words: "Chariots of Fire." Some people love it. I don’t. But to each his own.

I'm having a great time reading these post about Brad vs Jennifer. A couple of you crazies talk about Cameron Diaz and Cate Blanchete. Either way, the better movie will win. The only way we will know is by the box office sales. Pitt's movie and Aniston's movie are totally different. Some of you are so far removed from reality that your taking their personal lives and making it your own. For years Aniston has cried to the media about Pitt and his family. I know she has every right to be angry and hurt, but there is something about her that is a little off. Its 2008 and she is STILL making references to her ex and his children. She's lucky Jolie and Pitt have maintained their composure, refusing to comment. On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if Aniston has crafted her image around this whole situation. Her griping about Brangelina will NOT get me to see her movie. Pitt's relationship with Jolie will not make me see his. Don't be surprised if they all play this game knowing that there are people like us who blog, text or talk about them. In the end, we as regular folk will have to kill the Hollywood machine. Entertainers keep us entertained. They keep us distracted. They help us avoid looking at ourselves, at our own lives. I am guilty of reading and analyzing Aniston-Pitt-Jolie, but in the end, I will pick a movie that I can relate too. For now, I will leave their personal lives out of it.
