Coming from a single mother...giving the baby YOUR last name has nothing to do with being bitter!!!! I was 5 months pregnant when I left my husband and I gave my daughter MY last name, why? Because why would I want to give her a last name different then mine???? I'm raising her, caring for her 24 hours a day, 7 days a week 365 days a year.....I'm happy she gave the baby her last name, makes a GREAT statement to those that seem to think they HAVE to give there child his last name - there is no such rule.

i agree with the gal who posted above me in the beginning that she is the one taking care of her child 24/7 all year long and it's only natural to want to share your name with the child you are taking care of. legally, the bio father can fight to have his surname on the child, but i would fight that tooth and nail. it's very sexist and we live in a patriarch so it's to be expected men think they have certain natural rights to them. which they don't.

I am not a fan of hers and thinks she is exploiting this whole thing for press, but I think it is awful to call her a bad mother. My fiancee left me two months after I found out I was pregnant. Our daughter has MY last name, and we both agreed this was best. She is the one who will take him to his doctor's appointments, deal with his teachers, etc..... just because a man donated some sperm, doesn't mean the child automatically has his last name! I support her decision to use her last name. Where does it say the child HAS to have the father's name, is it b/c it is Tom Brady's baby, especially since it is a boy! BFD!!!! All of my children have my last name and their father and I are married. We decided to go against tradition.

If Bridget and Tom get along for the sake of their son, that's great. And all the more power to her for not having a problem with the girlfriend either. They're putting the baby first and that's what matters.

Congratulations to Bridget on her new bundle of joy! I used to be a Patriots and Tom Brady's fan, until Tom's true colors showed last December, I am totally disappointed in him. I thought Tom would be different from the other guys; it's too bad Tom Brady is just another typical non-gentleman.

This is a food-for-thought for Tom--does he ever wonder if he becomes injured permanently and can no longer earn millions, will Gisele stick with him through eternity?

By the way, Gisele was Tom's second supermodel choice! During one of Tom's interviews after he won the second Superbowl, Tom stated he will not be in Disneyland, but he is planning to visit Heidi Klum (fortunately, for Heidi--she's already hooked up with Seal). A little web searching turns up that she makes about $3 mil a film. Doesn't need Absent Father Tom's money. She's the parent doing all the work, the kid deserves her name, not the name of someone who is little more than a semen donor.

Wow. I can't believe that you people would presume to know either of these celebrities, or even Tom Brady's girlfriend. If you knew them, you probably wouldn't be posting here with me, right?

Well, I DON'T know either of them, but it seems to me that they've both tried to stay out of the public "bashing" of one another as so many celebs do these days. For that, I believe they should both be commended. I hope that their child has a real chance in the world. And a name? It is what you make it. I think if I was in an emergency room all ALONE, I might not feel the need to give my child the absent parent's name, either. I used to be a huge Tom Brady fan until this whole breakup-baby situation started. If he didn't want to commit to Bridget that's his business. However, he could have shown alot more class by at least waiting a few months before running all over the globe with manly Gisele. Bridget is the one with the class here.
