At the end of the day she is responsible for her own actions, nobody made her party instead of rehersing or made her lip sync. These are all mistakes she has made, if MTV scraped the magic tricks and and a new routine needed to be made she herself, knowing what was riding on her performance should have spent the night rehersing and not club hopping. She is the one trying to make the comeback, nobody else.

It's quite possible that's the backup person in the video taped rehearsal. Per numerous reports, BS made the group wait for hours on Saturday, and the dancers were working with a backup person.

Personally, I think MTV hired her for the opening spot for one reason...publicity. Think about it. Kanye West is already regularly on the airwaves, so if he was to open, I can't see a reason he would generate much more buzz than he already does. But, if they had BS open the show, she's been nothing but tabloid fodder for the last couple of years, so, the chances were great that she'd bomb, and generate a flood of buzz for MTV. We're all still talking about it several days later, so they obviously got the publicity they wanted!

It wasn't her best performance but at least she didn't flake. She went through with it when she didn't have to.

Sarah Silverman does not rehearse her lines PRIOR to her shows, she didn't even know what she was going to say until she got up there. Any dancer knows, you do NOT dance on your heels - unless tap dancing. You dance on the balls of your feet and rarely put that much weight on your heels... well, unless you're a drugged-up chubby hippo - that poor boot heel probably couldn't bear her weight.

There is no excuse. Britney must learn that to be accountable for her own actions. To succeed in a performance one must prepare, ie: wear the right shoes, be sober, whatever. You can't say "well she didn't have the right shoes on, so it's not her fault" - PLEASE! If she had rehearsed in those shoes in advance, she would've known that she can't dance in them thereby changing into more suitable dance wear.
