Commish: "Britney Reluctantly Agrees To Extend Conservatorship"

Posted on Thu Jul 31, 2008 11:43 AM PDT

Britney Spears has "reluctantly" agreed to extend her father's conservatorship!

Following the conclusion of this morning's hearing Commissioner Reva Goetz granted Jamie Spears six additional months of conservatorship over his daughter. "Miss Spears has reluctantly agreed that we extend," she told the court.

All elements of the conservatorship (including control over Britney's estate, trust, and personal life) are now set to expire on December 31st, with an additional court date on October 28th for the courts to check up on Britney's progress. No decision about the conservatorship becoming permanent will be made before then.

This morning's hearing also dealt with payments, as all lawyers collected their paychecks. Britney's brother Bryan also sought a payment for an unspecified service, but Commissioner Goetz deferred discussing Bryan's payment until a later date.

Well, it's a shame that Britney wasn't be given full control of her life back - but if she keeps making the kind of progress under Jamie she's been making, this could turn out to be a blessing in disguise!

We'll keep you posted on this afternoon's hearing - keep checking X17 for the latest!

Common sense prevails!!!

Posted by: Anonymous

this finally shows things are actually on the right track. Its sad it had to come to this but if this is the only way she can get the forced help she needs, then hey thats awesome.

Posted by: Anonymous

SHE'LL need a guardian til the end of time.

Posted by: Anonymous

I can't imagine it would be terminated early. I think it needs to be a permanent reality.

Posted by: Anonymous

I doubt the conservatorship will ever be permanent. If she was that bad she would have medical staff with her.

Posted by: Anonymous

she reluctantly agreed? doesn't she give a shit if she sees her kids or not? the custody deal relied on the fact that she would be under a c-ship.

Posted by: Anonymous

she's 27 yearld old people.i can't image my mommy and daddy telling me what to do at 27 years old .its as if shes 12!!!!!!!

Posted by: LefsaFan

12:08. "she reluctantly agreed? doesn't she give a shit if she sees her kids or not? the custody deal relied on the fact that she would be under a c-ship."

That's bullshit. The c-ship had nothing to do with the custody deal. You don't know what you are talking about.

Posted by: Anonymous

12:08 - she got more time because she was under the conservotorship. when it end she will have to prove herself again to get the same rights

Posted by: Chucky Cheese

...Whatever is best for JJ and Sean P.

Good decision. Go Britney babies!

Posted by: I hate shitney and all her moronic fans (both of them)

Commit her saggy ass to a psych hospital and give her money to people who need it.

Posted by: Anonymous

It's for the best right now. As a person who has suffered with mental illness, I know it can take time to be sure in yourself that you are fully recovered. And relapse is always a reality.

Posted by: Anonymous

It's sad that the custody hearing came before this case.

Posted by: Anonymous

2:12 THEN YOU OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T LIOSTEN TO KAPLAN'S PRESS CONFERENCE. The custody deal had EVERYTHING to do with the c-ship.

Posted by: Anonymous

You are right 12:18. Her visitation is dependent on the c-ahip.

Posted by: Anonymous

The streets and Rite Aid Drug Stores of Los Angeles will remain safe with Shitney still needing a babysitter 24/7. Doesn't this tell you Britards that your "Queen B" is mentally challenged and is equivalent to a 12-year old girl??? Jamie Spears is to applauded for his work in reining in his hillbilly daughter. I wish him all the luck in the world and hope he (or someone else) keeps her on a short leash for the rest of her sorry life.

"THEN YOU OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T LIOSTEN TO KAPLAN'S PRESS CONFERENCE. The custody deal had EVERYTHING to do with the c-ship."

What press conference. You seeing things?

Posted by: Anonymous

I don't understand what the big deal is. I think the whole c-ship thing is good. Her father is a good guy. He has her best interest at heart. Besides, does she look like she's suffering. She was having alot of fun in Mexico the other day.

BRIT IS WELL ON HER WAY>>>> PRAYERS WORK AND SHE IS DOING THE BEST SHE CAN GIVE HER CREDIT!! LOVE YA BRIT

Posted by: Another

But the c-ship is not dependent on the custody-case.

Posted by: Anonymous

Time doesn't heal everything, but it heals alot of things. She done great so far. By the next court date she'll be well on her way.

Posted by: the DQ

X17, you're a bunch of retards. BS didn't have any choice in the matter and you know it. Your heads are SOOOOOO far up your asses, you can't even distinguish fantasy (yours) from reality.

These decisions are made by professionals and the court, not by BS and it's NOT "...a shame...". She's obviously not mentally well and she may NEVER be. You have a LOT of nerve posting this garbage and the one you posted the other day.

The REAL story: "The court hearing has ended and Britney Spears is still officially under the control of daddy Jamie.

The court has extended the conservatorship through December 31. There's a status hearing on October 28, just in time for Halloween! The judge is leaving the option open to end the conservatorship early."

You really do want her to fail, X17, don't you...........that way you'll have more shit stories to spread.

Posted by: Anonymous

Yeah! Pa & Bryan Spears get to keep milking their cash cow.

Posted by: Anonymous

Yeah! Pa & Bryan Spears get to keep milking their cash cow. All men should take control of their women like this.

Posted by: Anonymous

I hope that even when the c-ship ends, that she keeps her father as an advisor. He is one of few people who have her best interest at heart.

Posted by: Anonymous

DQ: You're right. X17 wants her to fail because they make more money off crazy pictures. They got rich when Sam Lufti was drugging her. They were probably in on it. Don't worry the "N a v a r r e's" day will come.

I know this and it is very important to have help after you have a breakdown, drug induced one, or just having a chemical imbalance that comes and you don't know why you are the way you are it takes a good year to be stable enough to really want to stand up and take the steps to take care of yourself. It is far better not to fight it. It really sucks when you get stable enough to understand your illness and have to accept it but you are so much healthier when you do and you give yourself a break and you do not think that you have to feel bad about getting sick. It happens. For whatever reason. I know. I am Bipolar. I did not get diagnosed until 30 years old. I self medicated for years. Marijuana mostly but sometimes valium in excess and other benzodiazepates. I did not like Xanex like I did valium and klonopin. I no longer do marijuana or Benzo's but I do have to take a mood stabilizer to keep me balanced. I have Type II Bipolar. I am hypomanic. The worst I get is whenI do not get enough sleep. It is hard to sleep. I can go for days. When I start to crash I get so confused about what I am trying to do. It is great to be able to work all the time, scrub my house, shine my car, scrub my carpet with a tooth brush and a hair brush sometimes even though I have a steam cleaner, I do it because I have so much energy. I entered the Masters program at a college and they offered me a job as an instructor after Masters is finished. So I guess I am smart. Graduate Sigma Cum Laude from college. Mental illness is every where. Lots here.

Posted by: Another

They dropped the restraining-order on Lutfi, 'cos it's not necessary if Jamie are a conservator. Wich thing did they decide first?
Why wasn't Britney scheduled to be there?

Posted by: Anonymous

12:39
That's great that you are able to have a positive outlet. Education is worth more than anything.

Posted by: Anonymous

When I was recovering from my mental illness and I looked back at everything I had done and everything that happened, I almost killed myself. Once you are able to see clearly it is easy to relapse instead of having to deal with the reality of keeping the illness under control.

Posted by: Anonymous

12:39 Who has a mental illness here? How do you know?

Posted by: Anonymous

People need to remember the "illness" part of mental illness. This is not something people bring on themselves. If someone was suffering with cancer and went into remission, you wouldn't take joy in the return of their illness. X17: you should be ashamed of yourself.

Posted by: Anonymous

They sent her to promises last year...that suggests drug or alcohol abuse to me.

Posted by: Anonymous

12:52 What the hell is your problem.

Posted by: Pa Spears is a Drunken, Greedy Child Exploiter

12:52
Exactly. She needed time in a rehab...they also tried to send her to Eric clapton's rehab but she left after a day.
They know that's what she needs...but pa can't make 2500/week and have a cadillac if he sends here there, so he sends her to the recording studio and gives away her kids instead.

12:49
read all the posts. 12:14 was talking about her mental illness. By the way, just 'cause someone is mentally ill doesn't mean they're stupid.

Posted by: The Truth Hurts (X17)

Not one other news source says Britney was reluctant. This is a total X17 spin.

Posted by: Anonymous

12:52 - she passed all drug tests. I think she was missdiagnosed as a drunk/druggie. She was having problems for a while

Posted by: Anonymous

12:51
I did have both anxiety and generalized depression. I have been treated with both meds and therapy. Most of all my faith in God has saved me.

I wish X17 would stop acting like THEY know what is best for Britney Spears....

You are a bunch of parasites!!! You fed off of her when she was at her absolute weakest which is disgusting and repulsive!!! You have NO CLUE what is best for her. You constantly try to make it sound like her family and closest friends are out to get her money when they are the ONLY people protecting her AND her assets. They have given up EVERYTHING that they do in their daily life to help her regain her sanity, her children and her dignity.

You posted period pictures and partnered with Sam Lufti.

Do I need to say more?

X17 is discusting. I only come here to post how discusting they really are.

Posted by: Anonymous

And I'm pretty sure that woman they pay to hang around her all the time is her "sober friend"...otherwise she has no reason to be there.

Posted by: Anonymous

bi-whore shut up.

Posted by: jenny

i think they shouldve given her a couple weeks or a month to see how well she does on her own and if not good then obviously c-ship would kick in, but now we'll never know cuz she's being controlled.
like i said all about the money.

Posted by: Anonymous

1:01 I do have breathing problems. I've had broncittis and pneumonia so many time I can't even count. At one point my doctor suspected asthma, but I don't seem to have. Why do you ask?

Posted by: Anonymous

MVK spoke directly to the visitation/c-ship. If it goes, he goes to his next plan. end of story.

Posted by: Anonymous

12:26@1
Absolutely she has the mind of a child. When you start using drugs at an early age and then quit you have to allow the brain to learn things that you should already know as an adult. It does not mean that she can not and will not recover. Her brain was stunted in its growth and her learning how to live as an adult is the most important thing for her to concentrate on right now. The very best thing that Britney can do is work out her issues with the doctors helping her and her father watching her back. It does not mean she is crazy, it means that she is not yet matured enough to handle things on her own. She has had an awful lot of trauma in her young life. How that occurred does not matter except in what the treatment plan is to get her back on track and stable. People in worse shape than Britney recover. This time is exactly what any mental health counselor would suggest for someone who has been on drugs even drugs that are non narcotic.

Posted by: Anonymous

12:39, that was good to hear a honest story. I'm also mentally ill, of some reasons. Ppl should stop trashing Britney.

Posted by: Anonymous

You act like Britney's the poster girl for mental illness. Take MORE drugs lady cause YOU aren't balanced or stable.

I think alot of people here suffer from mental illness. So why do you all find it funny to tell each other to take your meds? Truth is, you really are takng your meds.

Posted by: Anonymous

1:12
That's interesting. I've heard of people having depression triggered by a physical problem.

Posted by: Anonymous

When young persons get an mental illness of some sort, until it's undetected by a doctor, some of them use drugs. To deal with the anxiety and other symptoms. It's hard for a young person to know that it's an illness.

Posted by: Anonymous

Look up COMORBID. It explains a lot about many people. Most if not all who have mental illness also self medicate. Britney had a lot of childhood trauma. Can you imagine being a kid and being told to sing for the masses over and over and always being afraid of failure. Eventually you will do something that is not perfect. Then people stalk, harass, talk nasty about you until you think you are that disgusting nasty person so you become that. You melt down. It happens every day. Just because nobody was beating her physically does not mean she was not beat down. At a very early age she took on the role of supporting her entire family. Britney is quite a woman to survive this and still be alive if you ask me. Then the coolest thing she has done is record songs about her life. I love PIECE OF ME, TOY SOLDIER, WHY SHOULD I BE SAD.

Posted by: Anonymous

ugg more nutcases

Posted by: Susan

Yeah, okay. So, you can't take care of your children, nor yourself, all you can do is smoke, dance, and go on vacations. And you "reluctantly" agree to your father staying in charge and making sure you eventually come out of your self-induced coma? You're a piece of work!

Posted by: LefsaFan

1:08 Anon said, "Absolutely she has the mind of a child. When you start using drugs at an early age and then quit you have to allow the brain to learn things that you should already know as an adult...."

You are absolutely fucking stupid. She was NOT a drug addict, she does NOT have the mind of a child or anything else you said idiot. She is very intelligent, has a quick mind, conducts herself professionally and is very articulate in interviews. Go crawl back under your rock.

Posted by: Anonymous

You're an asshole and a bitch. STFU

Get some glasses and look for the stem on the apple you old douchebag. You're a whiny mentally defective old hag and I'm a happy BASTARD!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha

Britney is a great candidate for being the poster child for mental illness but time will tell on that one. On your comment to me personally I will take my meds thank you. I am not ashamed to talk about my illness. I accept myself and I know I did not understand why I was the way I was until I got the help I needed. Then my whole life turned around. I have to follow doctors orders if I want to survive. Otherwise I will get so depressed I want to die. I choose life. I am free. I felt trapped. You don't hurt me with your smart ass remarks. It is a given that I must take my meds and I will take my therapists word on what is right or normal behavior for me. I have paid professionals to help me with staying stabilized but thanks anyway for your advice. :)

12:39 NOBODY SAYS QUEEN B IS CRAZY & SICK LIKE YOU SO DON'T GO COMPARING YOURSELF TO OUR GIRL. YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE THATS CRAZY.

Posted by: Good day!

Britney is a very positive woman, I think.
Now she's supporting three familys, her own, Jamie, Lynne & Bryan. I can hardly count!
The word "reluctantly": she wasn't even there!
I believe she's glad to finally have a caring father. And she seems to have fun times too.

Posted by: Anonymous

12;39 Who gives a crap about your mental illness and cathartic (sp) trip?
NOBODY that's who!!! You're not her doctor. You're a nobody in a blog. You don't know shit about what's wrong with her. Asswipes like you make it harder for her so PISS Off!!!

"You are absolutely fucking stupid. She was NOT a drug addict, she does NOT have the mind of a child or anything else you said idiot. She is very intelligent, has a quick mind, conducts herself professionally and is very articulate in interviews. Go crawl back under your rock."

First of all quit your flying off that handle at me. I love Britney and I meant nothing against her. You saying she does not act like a child is not what her doctors think. If she had the mental capacity to handle her life she would have been given her freedom today. She has a lot to learn and a lot of growing up to do. She was a binge drinker and if you think nicotine is not a drug then what is. It is the #1 drug used. As far as her interviews have you not seen her with Matt Lauer and Diane Sawyer break out in tears in the middle of the interview? She does not articulate well at all. She took off the mask she was wearing for all the world to see and now she can show her true self. Its called being sick and tired of being sick and tired. She will get better but she will have to accept her problems and the remedies for them just like all the rest of us recovering addicts and mentally ill people. Mental illness is not something to be disturbed about if the person is getting help. I rejoice that she is getting better through psychiatrists, meds, therapy, and support from her family and the people who are her current companions. If she did not have the intervention she did she might not be alive today.

Posted by: Anonymous

Britney HURT public empathy for people with mental illness. The only thing Britney's a *great candidate* for is being the poster child for selfishness and excess.

Posted by: Anonymous

What about your story on Tuesday that the converatorship was going to end one day early, on Wednesday. Your source is not so reliable I would say. Seems like you get most of your facts wrong when you are not telling a story about what has already happened.

Posted by: Anonymous

Halloween! Mark your calendars for the return of the crazy train on that date! You can be sure that the police, firefighters, psyche wards, bars, tow trucks, mini marts, Sam Lutfi and the other drug dealers all are preparing for this date in their own special ways. Get your pop corn ready, it should be quite a show!

New Brit-thread.

Thats interesting that you believe that because she has been discussed at the meetings of the American Psychological Council. Her behavior was so extreme. This has been brought on by not only Britney but many more of the same of Hollywood types but Britney did her melt down in public and she did it in such a way as to be flippin off everyone who loved her. She comes from a broken dysfunctional home. She has issues. No shame there. It is a shame that she has not had help before now to deal with her problems. There is really no telling what happened to her as a child. She was put in harms way herself quite a lot. Do you know how many of those creepy producers are pedophiles. To be oversexed like Britney there is a reason besides being selfish. There is almost always a reason for all behavior.

Posted by: Bipolar does not make you give up your kids

Someone manic and running all the time is type ONE Bipolar. You fucking liar.

Posted by: Anonymous

Bipolar 2 ho isn't bipolar. She's a hypochondriac and an attention whore.

Posted by: NuffSaid

Shitney was oversexed, underdisciplined, plus she's a narcissistic spoiled brat.

...I also thought this was a good post. Thoughtful and caring.

As far as the, "breaking out in tears in the middle of the interview" part, I think that people like Diane Sawyer and Barbara Walters aim for this to happen. It makes for higher ratings. Almost EVERYONE cries when being interviewed by Barbara Walters! LOL

...But you're right. I'm also glad to see she's getting help. There's nothing to be embarrassed about in all of this. Accepting that she's less than perfect is the best thing anyone can do.

Posted by: Anonymous

this is definitely a blessing. this girl (as much as i luv her) is sick. until she is healed with the proper medications and therapy, she has no hope of leading a normal life. she will only revert back to her old crazy ways.
with her parents' help, britney has gotten to see her children, something that would never have been granted before. she is also physically improving as well (her skin is clear!)
whats wrong with her father helping her out? hes acting just like a manager/personal assistant would in any other case.

Posted by: Anonymous

Its the best for her now,her parents love her so much, and shes happy and getting better everyday...shes working, and giving more time with her kids...keep it up Britney ...we love you...

Posted by: Anonymous

The c-ship was extended because her psych evalation says that she is still KOO-KOO and unable to care for herself. Britney just wants to get her party on. Good thing she has dumped her kids.

The SECOND her father drops the c-ship, Britney will go DIRECTLY back to what she was doing before. She is a psycho for LIFE. There is no cure for Personality Disorders - and Britney has several of them.

Posted by: Anonymous

As a Britney fan, i'm happy with this decision. Look at how much she has improved in the last 6 months, i can't even imagine what she will look like in another six.

Posted by: Anonymous

How kind of all of you mean spirited people to use the words KOO KOO etc
Mental illness exists
just like so many other illnesses that there are no cause for but luckily with therapy, and good meds and support, someone with mental illness can lead a normal life, and they fight hard to do it. People call us good parents because we don't coddle but are there for our 27 year old bipolar son, who is intelligent and a good worker, he knows when he is in trouble he can come and talk to us, or ask for help, sometimes we have to help him out financially, like a pair of boots for his job, things like that,
It's HARD on the whole family, so don't go knocking Mr and Mrs Spears, Britney is very lucky that she has love, support and the money she needs to get the help that she needs, and she has worked hard since she was a child in many ways. God Bless and I wish the best to Britney and her whole family. My son has a very understanding loving fiance but she won't put up with any garbage or if she see's trouble brewing she is very good at handling the situations too. Bipolar is a legal disability yet many who are bipolar succeed and surpass many who are NOT. Fact. Most of the kids that were in our son's treatment program and school are dead now, they all killed themselves, there are only 3 left. That is the saddest thing ever and to have someone go off on a binge or have some problems once in awhile is better than going to their funeral. Think about it.

Posted by: Anonymous

wat da hell is dis Britney is 26 years old wat da hell r these people actin lik she's 15 shes a grown ass woman and needs 2 act lik 1

Posted by: Anonymous

HAHA it is so good since she refuse to grow up and act like a woman and a mother her dad will be in charge of her. He should be there for her whole life than she will take her freedom serious when she get it.

KOOKOO@1103

PARASITES!!!!!!! Federline, the lawyers, the brother, her father... all of them living at her expense. Crazy, fat, whatever you want to call her (and i am not her fan9... but this girl feeds a lot of parasites!!!!!!

Posted by: pmedeiros

This woman, was not allowed a regular life to learn from the hard knocks.
Parasites all around her, her ex trading more time with the kids for more money...and his only success came from riding on her back.

She has handled more situations than most people 40 years old.

She has a personality disorder so is it any wonder? She is talented, she is working hard a understanding the biological conditions she was born with-remember this is not a "choice" for her.
Obviously it has become her choice to learn about, accept and learn to deal with her personal medical issues.
She does all this with a camera in her face constantly.
Which few if any people who feel free to write as if they know and understand her, her condition and her real issues could be able to cope with personally themselves.. so dysfunctional of them don't understand it, couldn't deal with it if it happened to them but they shoot their mouth off-says something about them. Meaning they show their own level of intellectual and emotional deficits. Have a good one....

What went wrong on The X Factor today with Britney Spears?

Britney definitely had another meltdown. This is proof she's not ready to step back into the spotlight!
I think Britney may have overreacted to a bad audition, but it will be entertaining to watch later!
I think Simon Cowell planned this all along. Brit probably even rehearsed it!
