I used the word "bravely" because I think many women would have fought like hell just to say they won. (eg..kids belong w/Mom)She stepped back and did what was in the best interest of the children. (Keeping in mind; HAD she gained custody, she certainly could have afforded enough staff to never have to deal with the children.) In general, I would prefer a parent say they are not ready to raise children; rather than do it poorly at the expense of the childs wellbeing.

I think we are watching Britney be guided into adulthood, finally. She never had the appropriate skills or structure for becoming an adult. (This was not the fault of her parents, in my opinion) She was a child star and began a very troubled adult life.
