She needs to be in a Mental Health Facility for a long duration, not locked up in her damn home with her parents watching over her. Jamie should have went for a Mental Health LPS conservatorship and he could have forced her into treatment for 180 days. The conservatorship is good for 1 year and can be renewed. He fucked up when he had the chance. They thought they could do it on their own and they are gonna get bit in the ass. She will be back out with her fuck buddies and ripping the streets of LA on the next court date. Watch and see.

A TON of comedians btw are bipolar, it is a positive side other the disease! You just don't see the dark places because it happens off stage. My friend says he can literally turn on his manic side to perform, but he crashes later on to varying degrees. He can't drink safely either!

The hospital cannot hold someone against their will, basically imprison them in the psychiatric ward, just for being bipolar. The hospitals would be full then because there are a lot of people diagnosed with this and other mental disorders.
The hospital CAN hold someone against their will if they believe they are a danger to themselves or others, meaning the hospital thinks they might kill themselves or someone else, or take some other action that would create bodily harm or illness. They cannot hold them against their will if they are just mentally ill but don't appear to be dangerous.
That being said, the doctors are frequently wrong about patients. They really don't know what someone will do tomorrow or the next day. However, they have to go with the law to avoid depriving a person unduly of their freedom.
Hospitals have let patients go who hear voices, who talk to inanimate objects, etc. They are just not deemed dangerous.
Bipolar in its extreme form can be very dangerous.
I think the Spears family is trying to contain Britney, to protect her because there definitely are vultures out there trying to take advantage of her, to help her get treatment, to keep her calm and pacified in order to win her cooperation with the treatment she needs. This is such a difficult situation. If they succeed in managing her treatment and her life, they will be heroes indeed.
The court can help them by continuing to give the father enough power to facilitate her treatment, cooperation, and protection. If the court fails Britney and family, it will probably end in disaster for her.
Father appears to be handling this with a firm but gentle hand, exactly what is needed here. I'm sure she is also seeing her doctor while all this is going on, and isn't it amazing that those visits are not all over the tabloids? Tne public has no right to know everything about her and her life and health.

hotbox... I'm back.. What do u think? I grew up with a loving father who was manic depressive. He suffered hi highs and low lows. Very extreme mood swings when either he didn't take his meds or they needed to be adjusted. On the highs he traveled lots always on the go and happy happy happy... The worst were the lows... He couldn hardly get out of the bed for days. From reading, it usually rears its ugly head in your 20's. The bipolar term wasn't used then either. And what kills me , doctors within a few days evaluate her...something like that takes quite a while to diagnose. Months if not years. What u think?
