It is no secret that labells buy thousands of downloads of new and struggling artists to keep them in the itunes "top ten." Ever since payolla became more difficult to do with radio stations, those budgets have been directed to downloads. Jive is well versed in this downloading for apppearance scheme.

Soundscan will report her numbbers Wednesday. They will be miserable in comparison to hher other releases. Luckily for Shitney, there are no major releases until November 13th, when she will be tossed in the bargain bin by Celine Deion and a few other notables.

Actually, itunes do count for sales figures. Billboard now counts them. The fact that "Gimme More" was number one on itunes is the main reason why it shot from 68 to 3 on Billboard Hot 100. And very few people are buying CDs still. It's a new world of technology and more and more people are using ipods and therefore downloading from itunes. Blackout will sell millions worldwide. Perhaps not as much as her previous albums, but that no longer matters. Blackout is Britney's fifth studio album in a near ten year career. No artist has huge sales figures that match their debut albums. Her numbers will be enough to keep her going for a few more years. If she can pull herself together and do a world tour, she will be fine professionally. And I have no doubt Blackout will outsell Christina's last album Back to Basics, which flopped in worldwide sales.

The Eagles have held off Britney Spears in the race to reach the top of the UK album charts.

‘Long Road Out Of Eden’ – the band’s first new studio album since 1979’s, ‘The Long Run’ – has also become the band’s first number one UK album.

The number one ends a 33 year wait for the band to achieve their first number one.

Following months of publicity, Spears’ first album in four years, ‘Blackout,’ entered the charts at number two ahead of last weeks chart topper’s The Hoosiers
