BRITNEY SPEARS SLEEPWALKS, LIP-SYNCS ON 'GOOD MORNING AMERICA'

Britney Spears performed two numbers on "Good Morning America" today, an event that's been hyped for weeks and weeks to coincide with her birthday and her new "Circus" album release.

So, with all that nonstop rehearsing we saw her doing on her MTV documentary, why did her GMA routine still remind everyone of her disastrous Video Music Awards performance?

Not that she didn’t look good physically. But just like she did in London earlier this week, Britney seemed to lip-sync and stumble her way through her songs.

British fans watching her performance on "X Factor" were reportedly outraged about her not really singing. Her U.S. fans may be a little more forgiving of (and used to) her faux singing, but it's still a little disconcerting to watch.

I saw her perform in Vegas a few years back. Sat in the front row. Close enough to see that she didn’t sing a note. Lip-sync City. But was the performance fun, sexy and lively? Sure was.

Sadly, her previously energetic dance style is still MIA. In her GMA performance "Womanizer," there was that familiar strutting sleepwalker stomp, eerily reminiscent of her attempted 2007 comeback on MTV.

But one wonders, why can’t she sing and dance at the same time? It's like those slow stomping moves would have caused her to be out of breath. Many others have sang and danced live at the same time.

But Britney is not even dancing; she is sleepwalking, so surely she can sing.

As far as finding out about Britney’s birthday plans or talking about her MTV documentary, Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts barely got two questions out about her upcoming concert tour.

"You're starting at home, right?" Sawyer asked helpfully, following a question about the beginning of her new tour.

A seemingly confused Britney said, "Yes, in America."

Roberts added, "In New Orleans!”

Um, yeah, as the hosts pointed out enthusiastically, that‘s Britney's hometown.

BRITNEY Spears' comeback has suffered a setback. The singer was forced to flee the UK after fans blasted her "disastrous" performance on live television.

The 26-year-old singer donned a trilby, sunglasses and a hooded duffle coat in a bid to remain invisible as she returned to America after causing outrage by appearing to mime during her rendition of hit track Womanizer on TV talent show The X Factor.

Angry fans branded the appearance – which marked her first performance on British TV in five years - “an absolute disaster”. Britney also reportedly angered show chief Simon Cowell by refusing to watch the contestants perform her songs on the programme, and banned show judges - Simon, Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole - from coming into her room to meet her.

A source said: “When the judges went to meet her, her security wouldn’t let anyone past. You have never seen so many security guards. Even around the judges’ dressing rooms was sealed off by Britney’s security people.”

Britney then further infuriated her British fans when she appeared at the G-A-Y nightclub in London to celebrate her 27th birthday but refused to take to the stage after being presented with a cake.

It actually surprises me a lot that her record label is trying to get her to do a major tour right now. The economy is in a horrible way. Britney is under a conservatorship since she is nuts, they have taken her kids away, they have her on meds, her comeback is not doing that well, and there just is not the interest in her music and tours like they used to be years ago. And she has said herself that she is not really in to it, which you can see in her performances and in her interview. Also her knee has given out on her twice (1999, and 2004). She had to cancel her Onyx tour. So much can go wrong on this tour. I think she will do a few shows then it will be canceled like the Onyx tour was. I feel sorry for her. She just is not what she used to be at all.

But compared to trainwreck Britney of the 2007 Video Music Awards, a show that drew 7.1 million, or dramatic-comeback Britney of the 2008 Video Music Awards (8.4 million), the all-too-human Britney of For the Record was just, well, human.

Well, I just found out that Britney's CD, that was released today, is already not selling well. It is only getting a luke warm reception at the stores. And also, my girlfriend works at a major CD store too and she said they started selling Britney's CD last night (earlier then they were supposed to). But people are not buying it in droves like her label would have you think. She said that people are asking for other artist and buying other artists CD's for X-mass even more.

Brit's CD will probably do well for the first few days though since her fans will buy 2 and 3 copies each. Bur after a week passes it will tank just like Blackout did.

Blackout has still not passed the one million mark in sales in the USA after having been out for around a year now. This CD will do about the same if even that. Britney is over!

Britney fans are now finally realizing it’s over. A lot of them are even admitting it on Britney fan sites, and even on some sites that are not fan sites like this one. Only a few are still trying to scream and yell about how her "big comeback" is doing great. But deep inside they know it's not true.

If you remember, her fans over the last few years have gone crazy each time Britney did one of her “failed” comebacks. There were lots of fans on each website supporting her as if she was back in a big way (which she never was). But now, on this supposed comeback, we are only getting one or two rabid fans yelling that she is back or telling people to “shut up”, lol.. In other words, most of her fans have left and are not defending her anymore. This comeback attempt has already failed and tanked. And this was her last chance, it’s over!

Pop veterans Take That have slapped a custard pie straight in Britney Spears’ face.

Their albums – both called Circus – went head-to-head this week and so far Take That are making it look trap-easy.

The lads broke the record for first-day sales – shifting 133,000 copies – and are sitting pretty at No1 in the midweek charts.

Britney, meanwhile, is at No3 – and her disastrous X Factor mime act on Saturday would have done her few favours.

Gary Barlow and Howard Donald saw it, open-mouthed along with the rest of the nation, and have seized the chance to let her have both barrels.

Speaking at the international launch of their new album in Paris, Gary told us: “I don’t see the point of Britney anymore, she was rubbish on the show. I think she’s more famous than she deserves to be now.”

And that’s from one of pop’s nice guys...

The week before Britney’s “silent night”, Take That performed live on the X Factor and Gary went on: “Why come on a show like that and mime? I don’t like her new song either. Her old stuff was great but maybe she should have spent more time on this one.”

Swigging beer next to him, Howard was a tad gentler towards their chart rival.

He said: “The truth is all the contestants on X Factor are so talented and were able to sing and dance live, so why couldn’t Britney do it? It’s the whole point of the show and her miming looked stupid – I just don’t think she understood the show.

The contestants did a better job than her. I’m glad she’s back but X Factor wasn’t right for her.”

To show Britney how it’s done, the boys played a fantastic LIVE gig at Paris VIP Room on Monday night.

They invited us along to the circus-themed gig along with a select crowd of friends and fans. Then it was time to party. Mark Owen made a beeline for us – the honorary godmums of his new daughter Willow Rose.

We bet she’s in good voice... unlike Britney.

I'm very happy for her that she is singing and performing to the best of her ability. She never said she would perform like she did when she was 17, grow up! She did. The Stones are still performing and so is Paul McCartney and they are in their 60's!
