I have to agree with 8:03AM #2. I do hope nothing changes! She really needs the guidance! She looks healthier already! She's been yacking on the cell. I don't know why that was even mentioned, but no way she should be driving. I also hope the conservatorship gets extended with more power and they take her to a Mental Health facility far away from LA and get her better. She could not show up for the court hearing for her children because of the high likelihood the judge would order her into treatment. She even went as far as the court but then was frightened. When she saw her baby had a bruise, she was terrified that she would be blamed for it, that's how bad is the court system and custody battles. She held her baby in her arms and cried and said she didn't do that, it was there already, and didn't want to let go of her baby because she feared she'd lose him because of the bruise. Turns out it was a bite mark from his brother (according to KFed's bodyguard) and it was there before Britney got the kids that day. But her very terror actually led her to lose all custody rights. Poor thing. These courts are brutal and heartless.

Can someone please show me a link to where in the conservator documents that it gave Jamie the authority to forbid his daughter from using a cell phone and from driving? This is news me. I have never heard this. I agree that she shouldn't be driving, but not being allowed to use the cell phone sounds extreme. Even people in prison get to use the phone!!!

I really don't see how they could possibly extend the conservatorship, and if they do, it's time the human rights groups jumped on it and did something about it. The court-appointed attorney that represents Britney during the temporary conservatorship interval, Samuel Ingham, has not met with Britney or had any communication with Britney since his 15 minute meeting with her on February 3rd at the UCLA Medical Center, after which he reported to the court that she didn't understand the conservatorship proceedings and that "she lacks the capacity to retain counsel." Reports are that Britney has been trying to contact her court-appointed attorney since Monday but without success because in addition to taking her cars away from her and allowing her to be chauffeured only to places her father approves, Jamie also has such tight control over her telephone use that she has not been allowed to call him. Now if that isn't a sad note, get this! Some of the parents of those children Britney worked with at the Millennium Dance Studio have said that Britney is so frantic to contact her court-appointed attorney that she begged them to phone Samuel Ingham on her behalf. What was terrifying was seeing her trying to drive to her house by herself, getting "lost" on the way on the edge of a cliff, being swarmed by strange men with cameras, and then having to have one of these strange men drive her home because she couldn't figure out how to operate the car and couldn't figure out where the hell she was.

The court may establish a temporary conservatorship for a period not to exceed 30 days and appoint a temporary conservator on the basis of the comprehensive report of the officer providing conservatorship investigation filed pursuant to Section 5354, or on the basis of an affidavit of the professional person who recommended conservatorship stating the reasons for his recommendation, if the court is satisfied that such comprehensive report or affidavit show the necessity for a temporary conservatorship. Except as provided in this section, all temporary conservatorships shall expire automatically at the conclusion of 30 days, unless prior to that date the court shall conduct a hearing on the issue of whether or not the proposed conservatee is gravely disabled as defined in subdivison (h) of Section 5008.

Section 5008 (h) "gravely disabled" means: A condition in which a person, as a result of a mental disorder, is unable to provide for his or her basic personal needs for food, clothing, or shelter.

That's why they are having the hearing today. Jamie had to get a temporary one pending a more permanent one. It will depend on the court's finding if that is to happen. There are all types of conservatorships. The court will hear all sides and not make a decision lightly.

What will happen? The Court will terminate the temporary conservatorship -- completely. Why? Because there is no existing medical/psychiatric evidence that due to a mental disorder she is gravely disabled or presently a danger to herself or others. The legal basis for the temporary conservatorship ended when she was released from UCLA psychiatric unit. WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN? Britney was released from UCLA because the reasons for the involuntary hold had ended. However, UCLA doctors also recommended that she continue inpatient treatment and conservatorship on a voluntary basis. What should happen is she should follow the doctor's advice. But, she won't. She will be totally unrestricted by this afternoon and it's back to Britney as usual.

Get this! Brit has been talking to Jason Alexander (that according to Jason Alexander) and Jason Alexander has been talking to In Touch magazine. In an exclusive interview, Jason Alexander told In Touch that Britney does not want to have permanent custody of her kids. Jason said; "She wants to see them, but she doesn't want to be a full-time mom. She said it doesn't matter if she doesn't get them back full-time and that she can always have other kids later on." He also said that he does not believe she should be awarded full custody "because she needs to focus on her."

When did Britney ever have "full custody" or ever have the kids full-time after the divorce? Custody of the kids was split 50/50 between Britney and Kevin. Kevin filed for primary physical custody last August because of Britney's behavior and in September he was awarded "temporary full custody" with Britney having supervised visitation rights pending a final custody trial set for April. But then Britney also lost visitation rights after the events of January 3rd. But Britney has not been fighting to get "full custody," she has been fighting Kevin to regain the 50/50 custody split that was in place before Kevin filed for primary physical custody. I don't think Jason Alexander understands that. Maybe Britney doesn't understand that anymore. Or Hell! Is it possible I don't understand?

Turns out that there are laws against driving recklessly. If she violates those laws, she should (for once) get a ticket. If she continues to do so, she should get her license taken away.

The issue in court is not whether she is sane enough to drive or use a cell phone. The issue is whether or not she is still gravely disabled due to a mental disorder. She's not. Conservatorship will be ended. She will be allowed to terrorize the streets of LA with her driving. But, if she has an accident and kills or injures someone, I hope they sue the living b'jzus out of her -- AND the paps -- and the Agencies of the paps. Punitive damages!!!!! There are a lot of people out there with bi-polar disorder who follow their doctors' advice, manage their illness and live happy, productive lives with families, raise children, have careers and contribute to their communities. BUT -- not Britney. She refuses to learn how to manage her bi-polar condition and instead is insisting on attacking all the things put in place to help her (and to protect the rest of society.) The thing is, we don't even know for sure that she suffers from Bi-Polar Disorder. That was a word that was thrown out to the media BEFORE she had undergone her psychological testing as requested by the courts.

However, there is circumstantial evidence that the doctors at UCLA did make some mental health diagnosis because after the 72 hours they did give her a "Notice of Certification" which means they would have had to have TWO professionals agree on a tentative diagnosis of mental disorder and grave disability due to mental disorder. Then, after that was the temporary LPS conservatorship which also would have had to allege in the petition that she had a mental disorder that was the cause of her being gravely disabled. So, even though we haven't seen the doctor's written finding, the circumstantial evidence is there. Circumstantial evidence is enough to support a finding in the laws in California.

I read recently that she's been acting like a 10 year old girl around her parents, talking about her kids like they're dolls and being really immature in general. If this is true than the conservatorship should definitely be extended. If not then sadly I think it needs to expire. I DO think she is MUCH better off with her mom and dad babysitting her but if she's not really ill then she should be able to live her own life.
I think that if the conservatorship is lifted we will see her return almost immediately to her selfish, drugged out, attention seeking ways. I think her fortune will continue to dwindle thanks to the "friends" who take her for every penny they can get. And she will either be killed or kill someone while she is driving.

For either type of Lanterman, Petris Short conservatorship ("LPS Conservatorship" -- due to a mental disorder)(temporary or permanent) the underlying condition of grave disability due to a mental disorder needs to exist at all times during the conservatorship. The statute starts with a temporary conservatorship UP TO 30 days. That's what this court ordered -- but for a period of less than 30 days to start. Then the court extended the temporary conservatorship to today. Essentially, the probate court (conservatorships) tried to match the steps of the involuntary mental hold process at UCLA. However, UCLA released her prior to the end of the 14 days because she was no longer gravely disabled under the LPS Act. So, they will have to end the conservatorship. But, if she was still gravely disabled, then the court could go to the next step and order a "permanent" conservatorship of a year with a six month review. "Permanent" conservatorships do expire unless they are renewed at a renewal hearing. The condition of a mental disorder and being gravely disabled due to that mental disorder must continue all during the conservatorship.

1:01 You may be right, but I'd guess not. The reason you may be right that she does not have bi-polar is because extreme drug abuse can indeed result in bi-polar or even schizophrenia-like symptoms. Once UCLA detoxed her, however, after the 72 hours, they did certify her for continuing involuntary detention. That's what makes me think she is bi-polar. However, if Lufti did slip her some more drugs in that hamburger and drink, then it may have taken longer to detox her and the symptoms could have gone beyond the initial 72 hours, but disappated after that.

Her dad needs to stay on for as long as it takes. her rights are NOT being violated people...she could not function properly, or did you all forget that? If in fact she is doing better as it appears to be,(she could be trying to fool everybody in order to get what she wants), then it's due to all of the effort being put into saving her life by her dad. I'm thinking it's something else other than Bi-Polar. I've said it before on here (so I know I sound like I'm repeating myself...sorry!) but the symptoms just don't seem right. Unless she's into rapid cycling, I'm not seeing the extreme "highs" and "lows" out of her. Yes, we've seen her crying, and we've also seen her in what seems like mania, but for a couple of months on end she had the same routine every day. She was out in public EVERY night of the week. Wouldn't someone who's Bi-Polar have lows that keep them in the house for days on end? (Someone jump in and correct me here...)

On the other hand, if it's a personality disorder, it would effect her in a different way. Histrionic PD would explain the slutty clothing, the attention-seeking from the paps, and all the drama. Borderline PD would explain the extreme emotions, etc. I'm thinking if she has a personality disorder, it would've been magnified by Osamah's drug cocktails, but then she would've settled down as the drugs were purged from her system...enough for UCLA to determine her not to be sick enough to be held, but still sick enough to deserve conservatorship...

I agree with Chucky Cheese about HPD, but I also think there is more involved, including a drug and alcohol adddiction. I don't think anyone who abuses drugs or alcohol can beat it on their own, and she didn't spend enough time in rehab to even matter. She needs to be in an impatient Mental facility for a duration of time to get to bottom of all of it, imo. I think all of this is just a bandaid, and they don't work, from my personal experience.

I am glad to see what her father is doing. She wasn't getting anywhere living life the other way - and on her way to being broke. Her parents care about her... if anyone do they do.

You idiots crying about the whole conservatorship being a violation of her human rights.... You all must be 10 years old. Have you noticed there is a whole series of procedures in place that need to be followed by the court. Notice there are legal things like 5150's and now 730's? Do you think this was all just put in place to deal with your little darling's mental problems? Do you think they invented the concept of conservatorship just for her? Wake up! She's not the first or only person to go through this procedure. It's all part of the legal system, just as the custody laws weren't put into place just to make her life difficult. This stuff happens to people all over the country--all part of the everyday court system, a whole law system in place to deal with it, lawyers that specialize in it, judges that hear these types of cases. Why aren't you talking about the other thousands of people who this happens to every day. Pay attention in school kids---learn something about the legal system before you post and show how truly stupid you are. BTW to the poster who said even prisoners get to use the phone, Britney did too while in the hospital, the pay phone, just like them. Obviously makes monitoring who she talks to easier. You're right Chucky Cheese 1:20. I've known 3 people with bi-polar disorder. My current downstairs neighbor suffers from it. All of the people I've known were in the up period for weeks or even months at a time, low for extended periods of time. Not a day here and there. I can always tell very easily which phase my neighbor is in. When he's "up" he's very friendly and fun and outgoing, then he gets in the down phase and often can't even go to work for days at a time (really bad cuz he's self employed and has to work or have no income!), and is very quiet when we run into each other. Tht's why most of the psychiatrists that have been interviewed about Britney think she's got several illnesses going on at the same time, not just bi-polar disorder. And that's why it's going to take a while to diagnose and treat her, coming up with the proper meds. It's going to be a long process and that's why the conservatorship needs to stay in place. She needs long term care and should probably be in a facility to be treated, not at home. She's not going to be well for a while fans, so get used to it. Wanting her to get her "civil rights" back is the worst thing that could happen to her right now. She needs the protection from herself!
