A Los Angeles Judge today put off further discussion about when Britney Spears might resume her life, free of a court-ordered conservatorship.

The decision came as a result of a wrinkle that appeared in the case on Tuesday, revealing how Spears’ complex legal matters remain unresolved when she is not allowed to testify about them.

The latest development in the singer’s conservatorship saga came as a result of a business relationship between Spears and entertainment executive Johnny Wright. Attorneys for Wright were in court based on an ongoing Florida lawsuit with her former manager Wright regarding what appears to be a contract dispute.

In order for the suit to go forward, they wanted Spears to sit for a deposition.

Wright’s lead attorney, arguing via speakerphone, said “We have seen appearances where she seems to be doing so good.”

But Spears’ father Jamie, who is one of the executors of her estate, filed an ex-parte motion stating Britney is not ready to undergo a deposition.

Judge Reva Goetz ruled, saying, “The capacity issue remains open.”

A new date of February 2, 2009 has been set to re-visit the deposition. Britney remains under the conservatorship until at least the end of this year.

Court Delays Britney Spears Deposition
LOS ANGELES (AP) ― A court says Britney Spears doesn't have to testify in a deposition in a Florida case involving a former manager.

Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz ruled Tuesday that Spears doesn't have to give the deposition until February, or until she is out from under her father's conservatorship. Jamie Spears has controlled his 26-year-old daughter's personal and financial affairs since February.

Attorneys representing Spears' former manager, Johnny Wright, want the singer to answer questions under oath. Wright and his company sued Spears last October, claiming the singer failed to pay for work he helped produce.

Jamie Spears asked the Los Angeles court to intervene and block the questioning.

Britney Spears remains under the conservatorship until at least the end of this year.

Britney Spears is set to star in a film of her life.

The Womaniser singer will relive some of the most traumatic events in her life – including her breakdown earlier this year, which saw her lose custody of her two sons Sean Preston, three, and Jayden James, two - for the biopic, which is being made by British director Phil Griffin.

A source said: “It’s the film everyone will be queuing to see. It will be dark and gritty – charting Britney’s devastating falls including her traumatic custody battle for her two children.

“Let’s just say it will not be for the faint-hearted. But it will also show the highs along her incredible life journey.”

Although filmmakers were initially concerned Britney - whose father Jamie is still acting as co-conservator of her estate following her breakdown - might not be strong enough to revisit her past troubles, the 26-year-old singer is said to be keen to star in the project.
