The judge in the hit and run case against the popwreck permanently stayed the hit and run charge. It's complicated, but basically it means since Spears settled with the alleged victim by paying her around $1,000 plus rental car fees, she won't be prosecuted for hit and run.

As for the other criminal charge -- driving without a California license -- Britney plead not guilty. Her next appearance is set for November 26. The judge ordered her to appear. But guess what? Britney's dance card is full. There's a hearing in her custody case that same day. It's hard juggling all that legal stuff, y'all.

It is amazing how some people on her are still defending her regarding this. Yes, the judge dismissed it. But the fact is, she was still terribly irresponsible here, didn't care at all about the other car, and as far as I know, there was some damage caused to the other car.

The hit and run charges were dropped after she reached a settlement with the owner of the other car.

The driving without a license charge is still pending. The prosecutor is asking for one year of probation. If im a Unfitney's attorney I am fighting this tooth and nail. All one has to do is look at what happened to Paris. My guess is Unfitney will end up in jail within a year.

I'm glad the charge was dismissed because it was really the photogs who cause her to bump that car. She was distracted by the hoard of photogs that rushed toward her as she was pulling into the parking space and that caused her to look away for an instant as she was turning in. For the safety of everyone around them, drivers need to concentrate on what they are doing when they are in tight parking lot spaces and it is not good to distract them. Shit like this can happen or someone's foot can get ran over when photogs distract and crowd the driver of a moving vehicle.

The woman was very angry and annoyed with Britney because she and her people wouldn't return the woman's calls and refused to pay the damage to her car. It wasn't until she filed charges that Britney decided to pay up. The woman has done several interviews on I think Hollywoodtv or Celebritytv websites. As for the license charge, I think in most states you're supposed to have the state license of where you live. Britney's license may be valid in Louisiana but isn't in California.
