A judge has granted a request to have Britney's older brother Bryan be named as the trustee of his sister's trust.

30-year-old Bryan and attorney Ivan Taback have been granted the authority to serve as co-trustees.

That means they cannot use the Welfare and Institutions Code 5150/5250 from UCLA -- because of HIPAA -- in the conservatorship hearing. It also means the court is not necessarily basing this conservatorship on the LPS Act and requiring Britney to continue to meet the gravely disabled definition under the LPS Act. This is a "regular" probate conservatorship! Much easier standard to meet to keep it going! YEAH COURT!

Why was Bryan named the trustee? This is the same person that trashed an apartment Britney was renting and left her with a bill for thousands of dollars. It's now up to her to manage/mismanage her life. The standard for institutionalizing someone (or establishing an involuntary conservatorship) needs to be very high.

Sure, she's a dipshit -- but isn't that her right? Do you people really want the government to decide which ADULT is/isn't a dipshit & assign someone to run their life (as basic as who they see, where they go, what meds they take, WHETHER THEY CAN HAVE AN ATTORNEY, etc.) even if it is their parents (who have demonstrated failure already).

Of particular concern is denying her a chance to have an attorney to represent her interests with respect to the matter. That is a complete travesty.
