After the surprising news today that Britney Spears' trial on misdemeanor traffic charges had ended in a mistrial because the jury could not come to a unanimous decision, OK! spoke to the pop superstar's lawyer, J. Michael Flanagan, to find out why his client never took the stand in her own defense.

Flanagan told OK! that he had gone to Britney's house on Oct. 13, only days before the trial began, to discuss the case with her and attempt to convince the singer to testify in court. However, he revealed, "She is not very strong. She is still very fragile. I had to explain things to her."

"I said, look, if Britney testifies, we have a 90% percent chance of winning. If Jamie comes in, we have a 50/50 chance," Flanagan recalled. "But she refused. She said 'I can't face all those people. I don't want to deal with all the people.'"

Flanagan then revealed that Jamie pulled him aside later. "He said, 'If you need Britney to win, I can get her to testify.' But a few days later, Jamie called and said 'Britney's not going to testify. She can't do it."

It seems it will take 3 posts to answer your post but I felt what I said to you needed to be said and I hope you think about what you are doing because if your behavior continues in this manner in the real world you will have a lot of problems. This sounds ridiculous. There is forfeit which means a penalty and your spelling of the word is wrong but the meaning you imply is not what the word even means. To forfeit something means you are penalized. There is no such word in the English language as disfortunate and the hurricane was Katrina not karina and it was in 2005. Those people have been taken care of. The most recent is Hurricane Ike that tore up Texas.

If anyone here knows about Britney Spears they would know already that she has the Britney Spears Foundation and wasn't it not so long ago where Britney attended a charity fundraiser for autism. Celebrities often attend these fundraisers and donate $10,000 to research. There is a cap on how much money you can donate out of your income to charity to write off on your taxes. When anyone donates it can be used as a write off and you pay less taxes. If Usher donated money he wrote it off, you can be sure of that. His people take care of that and Britney's people take care of her finances. Remember she can not donate. She is under a c-ship. Only daddy or brother Brian can donate through her financial advisor on her tax return for 2008 as it is right now.

Britney Spears is in the red, and I don’t mean lipstick or anything sexy.

Her Britney Spears Foundation has a deficit — nearly $200,000 to be precise.

The foundation’s Form 900 tax filing has just arrived, and it shows that Spears came up short $195,445 for the year 2006.

Total revenue was $148,614. But total expenses came to $344,063.

Among the expenses were two salaries that each came to a little less than $40,000. One employee is Corina O. Biggar, who’s run Britney’s foundation from her home in Massachusetts. The other is listed as John McMahon, a former New York City cop.

Britney Spears has signed a provocative portrait of herself for a new eBay charity auction.

The painting – titled Mixed Media Painting of Britney Spears – was created by Californian artist Daniel Maltzman, and was donated to the Promises Foundation, an organization that provides behavioral health services to low-income women and their children.

“The Spears family gave us this painting out of their generosity,“ said Foundation director Lisa Rogg. “It was their idea for the auction.”

The painting – which has a starting bid of $10,000 – comes with a letter of authenticity from Britney’s father that reads: “I hereby verify that the portrait of my daughter, Britney, has been in our home since it was completed by the Daniel Maltman Studio.”

The Promises Foundation is committed to restoring hope for families by creating a safe environment for mothers and their children to grow and develop the tools they require to live meaningful and self-sufficient lives.

The auction runs until September 20 and can be accessed through a link on the Promises Foundation website.
