I'm still a fan of her music. But I feel bad for her. She used to be happy and fun and just a down to earth girl. Now she just seems like this robotic shell of her former self. And I like yours 5:42. I think everyone here, no matter what they say, want her to succeed. Yeah, a lot of people may not be too fond of her, but that doesn't mean she shouldn't be happy. I think 2007 was her downfall year, but I think it was her wake-up call. She made her own choices, and she knew and still knows that she was at fault. I think it was her own personal way of redemption in a sick sense. I think she may have enjoyed the media spotlight so much that she wanted more of it. There came a point where she grew sick of it (her second single from Blackout "Piece of Me" sums this up).

As I stated, I am a fan. A younger one at that. But I don't think my age should limit me to what I know about her and her case. Do I think she was abusing alcohol and hard drugs? Yeah. Her dad was a super alcoholic, which made her 80% more likely to be one herself, which she did become. When it comes to the welfare of her kids, I think she has genuine love for them. But I think her own "rebellion" and her own self-destruction got in the way of that. She was considered a failure by so many, and I think she wanted the world to believe she was this great mom.

I love Britney, I've loved her since her first single came out. I want the best for her, and thats not what I think this tour and album was. While performing may be a therapy for her, whats gonna happen when she stops? Depression, which can lead her back down the path she suffered in 07.

One of the inherent difficulties in holding moderate opinions here is the tendency to get caught in the middle between extreme perspectives. It is amusing that I can make one comment then be called a hater and a britard. It makes me shake my head and laugh!

She has been held under a medically, legally and financially necessary conservatorship for close to 1 ½ years. I hoped she would make meaningful changes in her life. Sadly, she has not. I was stunned to learn she secretly contacted Sam - a known predator with multiple restraining orders. It was a selfish and reckless act. Her inability to distinguish friend from foe suggests she may still be a danger to herself and her children. Her inability to reason through her difficulties can be exasperating. By contacting a predator, she may have jeopardized whatever slim chance she may have had to regain joint custody if/when the permanent conservatorship ends (maybe late 2010- mid 2011). I still hope she learns to control her impulses and becomes a nurturing mother for her children’s sake. But I have more reason to doubt it will ever happen.
