Brittany Murphy's Husband: "I'm Confident It Wasn't An Overdose"

BMURPHY110807hubby.jpg

Despite the fact that powerful prescriptions such as Topamax, Klonopin, Ativan, Vicoprofen, Hydrocodone, and Fluoxetine were all found in Brittany Murphy's home, her husband Simon Monjack is insisting that the 32-year-old actress did not die from an overdose.

Monjack tells the NY Daily News, "I'm confident it wasn't an overdose. She was not a drug addict." Monjack called reports of his wife abusing illegal drugs "rubbish," adding that she "did not take anything on the morning of her death that would have caused her to be sick or ill, let alone die. It's beyond even the sickest speculation."

Monjack also responded to reports that Murphy was suffering from an eating disorder, telling NYDN, "The attacks on me, the attacks on my wife and suggestions that she was anorexic and drug addicted, it's like, look at the (recent) photographs ... Look at that smile. That's not the smile of an anorexic or drug addict or someone in a bad marriage. That's someone who was content with her life."

While we'd like to believe her grieving husband, the pharmacy of drugs in the house combined with Britt's fragile frame have us wondering what the toxicology results will reveal in the weeks to come. And we weren't the only ones who noticed how thin Brittany was looking in recent months - Us Weekly wrote that the actress looked "emaciated" at her last public appearance, and her weight was definitely been a hot discussion topic, even before her untimely passing. In an interview with Fox News' PopTarts (via NYDN) Brittany noted, "I am a bit thinner now than what I would like to be."

So if it wasn't drugs or an eating disorder, what happened? Do you believe Simon Monjack?

So sad.

you don't have to be a drug addict to have an accidental drug overdose! even if she wasn't an addict, the mixture of medications listed by police still could have caused her death! hello -- HEATH LEDGER?!? how many people are going to have to die before people especially these celebs will realize YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW STRICT DOCTOR INSTRUCTIONS WHEN THEY PRESCROBE SOMETHING - ONE DOCTOR NOT A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT ONES - AND LET HIM OR HER KNOW EVERYTHING YOU ARE TAKING?? there needs to be legislation in place to have a NATIONAL LIST for everyone prescribed drugs that can interact with others so that a pharmacist CANNOT fill a prescription if it would mix badly with another the person is already taking!! (then at least these alleged OD deaths would just be people taking illegal amounts or tricking drs on purpose...)??

It is possible that this was not drug related. She could have died of a bacterial infection that traveled to her heart or something related to her recent illnesses. It has happened to young people that I have known. Sad. Lets stop speculating.

Who cares! I found a great datingsite (((((( S e e k i n g R i c h 。c0m )))) last week. The best datingclub for seeking the richsingles, sexy beauties. what's the most important is that you don't have to be a milllionaire, but you can meet one. Charlie Sheen found his true love on that site in 2007.

Good Lord, why not let this poor family grieve in peace??? They do not need all these damn fool speculating on her death, they need to be allowed to grieve with out people talking crap about her or their marriage, life, etc. It's really a sad situation, it always is when someone passes away, particuarlly when they are so young. I send my kindest regards & best wishes to her loved ones.

RIP Brittney! as far as her husband goes, if they were happy, well so be it!! i do think he's hiding something, though...i mean, why wouldn't he want to know what killed his wife unless he already knows!! ya know what i'm saying?!!

Fluoxetine is Prozac, really hard to OD on that. Of the "list" of medications, isn't it possible some belong to her husband? And perhaps some are older ones she wasn't taking anymore. But god forbid they take that into account, anything to make things seem shady.

And to the first poster, most insurance companies will actually pop up with an interaction of drugs they are taking from multiple pharmacies if there is an interaction. However, people get around things like that by paying cash. There is also a list in some states that pharmacies can provide the name and controlled drugs patients have gotten(does NOT violate HIPAA), unfortunately it takes about 3 weeks or more to update to show instead of being in real time.

Also, doctors are idiots about prescriptions, they will write for ANYTHING, even if it doesn't exist or has been off the shelf for 10 years or has massive interactions. They don't know about interactions for a lot of drugs, nor do they care half the time.

It doesn't matter who she was married to. It doesn't matter if she was or was not into drugs. It's sad that she died so young, but it was her time, she could not be late for that appointment; she was right on time. Hope she made it to God's Kingdom.

I know someone that worked in a restaurant that Britney frequented. He said that she was bulemic. I kind of was like whatever, but now it kind of fits.
