Cameron Diaz committed a serious fashion no-no today, according to the AP (via Yahoo's omg!) -- she wore a messenger bag emblazoned with a Maoist slogan in Peru, a country that lost nearly 70,000 of its people during the Maoist Shining Path insurgency in the 1980s and 90s. Way to be sensitive, Cam, damn! But hey, she didn't know, right? Which is worse, being insensitive or not knowing ...
Diaz certainly didn't "serve the people" of Peru during her visit to Machu Picchu!

Why is everyone making such a big deal about this? It was a red star and a saying on her bag and I'm sure most of you would not have known the history of it. Someone commented above that a red star is symbol of communism and it's like using a swastika (LadyWithClass). However, a star is more commonly used in designs than a swastika.
