Casey Affleck's Co-Worker Defends Him After Sexual Harassment Claims
Posted on Wed Aug 4, 2010 11:12 AM PDT
After being accused of sexual harassment by two women who worked on his Joaquin Phoenix documentary, Casey Affleck's associate producer Nicole Acacio is sticking up for him.
"I never saw anything out of the ordinary either on or off set, and certainly nothing like what they described in [these lawsuits]," Acacio, tells the NY Post. "The real Casey isn't the one who was described in these suits. Nothing I've ever witnessed would lead me to think he could ever do anything like that. These lawsuits are contrary to everything that I personally know about Casey."
Producer Amanda White claimed the actor/producer made "uninvited and unwelcome sexual advances in the workplace," and cinematographer Magdalena Gorka alleges that while filming the documentary, Affleck climbed into bed with her and groped her while she was sleeping. Affleck's lawyer has strongly denied the accusations made by both of these women, who are also seeking payment for their time spent on the film.
Who do you believe? Ben's little bro or the girls?

Both of these women have had long and successful careers in this business, and neither of them has ever accused anyone before of harassment. They're courageous for standing up to Affleck's indecent behavior, who can obviously hire or influence people to say whatever he wants them to. You can't treat people like that and get away with it.
Of course two of the posters on here are obviously male who disrepect women before they even know the whole story. So the only f*cking pigs on here are them, doing what they do best - taking up for the dude before they even know if he's guilty of doing something wrong or not.
I've read both of these women's actual complaints, and they are pretty damning. However, they do make repeated mention of an all-male shoot, and Gorka says that White was the only female producer. Obviously, Nicole Acacio's title on the shoot disproves that. I also find it hard to buy that the kinds of things that are described in the suit could happen, and no one would know about it? Hard to buy, but not impossible. Time will tell, I guess, but I liked Casey Affleck, and I'd be bummed to find out he's this sleazy.
