Cate Has Something To Hide!

CBlanchett121508_01_X17.jpgCate Blanchett

I adore Cate Blanchett - she's an amazing actress, she's pretty cute, and she seems like a nice lady. But kiss me Cate? Not so fast! The Oscar-winner was spotted in Santa Monica the other day with a monstrous cold sore on her pretty lips.

I would say, it happens to the best of us, but really, it doesn't happen to all us. And I feel bad, really I do, but if you have a cold sore and you're a celeb, it's probably not a good idea to go out in public.

It's About Time!

Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett looked thrilled the other day as she got her very own star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. The actress gave a short speech, and she was congratulated by Steven Spielberg afterwards. We're just wondering what took 'em so long - Cate is an amazing actress and we think she should have gotten some sidewalk recognition a long time ago!

The Curious Case Of Old Brad

How the heck did the peeps over at Digital Domain get the gorgeous Brad to look like a short, old geezer for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button???

Well we hear Brad had to rest his fully makeup'd head on a positioner and shoot all his lines that way so the geniuses at DD could then superimpose his head on a shorter actor's body to create the older/baby version of the Benjamin character. Cool! But probably tedious for Brad!

Cannes Fashion: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly

gwyncate.jpg
Cate Blanchett gave birth a mere SIX weeks ago, yet she is glowing (and rocking a seriously svelte post-baby bod) in this ruffled grey creation. Her shoes match her dress perfectly and her hair and makeup are flawless, so it's easy to see why she's one of our picks for best dressed at Cannes.

Gwyneth's hair deserves it's own special award for being so perfect, but her dress gets an A-plus as well. She kept it simple, sleek and sophisticated, but just to make sure the outfit wasn't too boring Gwyn threw in some neutral toned gladiator heels to spice it up. If you're going to attempt the gladiator high heel look, take notes from Gwyn - she clearly knows what she's doing.

Natalie Portman looked ravishing in this strapless red ruffled dress, but come on, does she ever look bad? Everyone at X17 agreed that this was one of the best dresses on the Cannes red carpet this year, and we can't wait to go buy one just like it!

Someone else who went for the short and strapless look (and pulled it off quite well) was Miss Lindsay Lohan. She chose a metallic gold minidress with a bottom ruffle detail, sky high gold heels and a matching clutch (check it out here).

Now, listen up ladies - your skin should never match the color of your dress, especially if the shade we're talking about is orange! Victoria Silvstedt shows us how not to do it while showing off her twin oompa loompas in the process.

Flashing your goodies uglies on the red carpet is a major no no, but would we really expect anything less from French "actress" Yasmine Lafitte? We might be more forgiving if this was an accidental flash, but the smile on Yasmine's face (not to mention the lack of undies!) just makes us, well, a little sick. And they say Americans are tacky!

Indiana Jones and the Red Carpet

The movie almost 20 years in the making finally premiered at Cannes last night, to mostly positive reviews!

The movie's stars, Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett, walked the red carpet for the opening night of Cannes, as well as the first public showing of the film's fourth installment.

Harrison looked hot for 65 in his tux - course having Calista looking gorge (for the first time in a long time!) on his arm doesn't help either, as the star joined co-stars Cate Blanchett (gorgeous in grey Armani) and Shia LaBeouf, Natalie Portman in Chanel, Salma Hayek (who's losing a lash!) Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw, George Lucas and Mellody Hobson.

We've got more red carpet stars (and wannabes) coming up, so stay tuned!

We Got Spirit (Awards), Yes We Do!

BPITT022308PART2_01.jpgWhat, you thought you were only getting one awards show this weekend?

Well, the stars would beg to differ - last night, everyone turned out to the Independent Spirit Awards!

BPITTREDCARP022308_006.jpgBrad Pitt and Angelina Jolie showed up - and Angelina clearly brought the twins!

CBLANCHETT022308_12.jpgJavier Bardem didn't win anything for his portrayl of Anton Chigurh - but hey, he's got another shot at some statuary tonight!

Brad Pitt CBLANCHETT022308_05.jpg The night's big winner was (get ready for a shock) Juno - in addition to Ellen Page's Best Female Lead award, it also picked up statues for Best Screenplay and Best Picture!

We've got more from the Spirits after the jump - check 'em out!

The Stars Come Out To Shine For The SAG Awards

BPITTAJOLIE012708_01.jpgCBLANCHETT012708_03.jpgAngelina Jolie ELONGORIA012708_01.jpg After an awards season all but devoid of their presence, the stars returned to the red carpet last night for the Screen Actor's Guild awards.

Fans in attendance were treated to the sight of celebs including Angelina Jolie (who wore a noticeably flowy vintage Hermes dress), Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, and Eva Longoria dolled up in their red-carpet finery.

Ironically, however, despite the stars' presence, most of the awards went elsewhere - both Angie and Cate lost Best Actress to Julie Christie's performance in Away From Her, while Cate's performance in I'm Not There was also passed over in favor of Ruby Dee's turn in American Gangster.

Other major winners included Daniel Day-Lewis winning Best Actor for There Will Be Blood, No Country For Old Men picking up Cast Performance, and The Sopranos receiving some post-mortem recognition.

Of course, we know you're really interested in seeing the stars strut their stuff - so we've put together a gallery of our favorite shots of them doing what they do best!

The Nominations Are In!

The nominees for the SAG awards were announced this morning!

With the Writers Guild Strike leading to awards ceremonies being picketed left and right (which means there will be several celebs who refuse to cross the picket line), it's entirely possible that the SAG Awards (who earned an exemption from the writers' wrath through their unwavering support) might be the biggest awards show this year.

Fortunately for fans of celebs, the Screen Actors picked out some big names for noms - in addition to Angelina Jolie (nominated for best actress for A Mighty Heart), the Guild also singled out:

GCLOONEY111907_01.jpg George Clooney's portrayl of Michael Clayton in Michael Clayton earned him a nod from the SAGsters

Angelina Jolie JGANDOLFINI121206_01.jpg The Sopranos may be over - but James Gandolfini's still getting recognized for his portrayl of Tony Soprano!

It's a HUGE surprise to all of us that the Beautiful Mrs. Bratman is with child, right?!!! Xtina finally spilled the beans to Glamour magazine by answering that her plans for 2008 include "enter[ing] into mommyhood." She says she'll be a working mom, trying to maintain that difficult "balance" between parenting and career.

Why So Blue, Cate?

CBLANCHETT100207_01.jpgCate Blanchett CBLANCHETT100207_05.jpgJust kidding - Mrs. Blanchett was looking positively radiant last night when we caught her at the red carpet premiere of Elizabeth: The Golden Age, in which she reprises the role which brought her to prominence. Still, that's quite an arresting shade of blue she had on, no?

The Other "Cate" in Paris

In addition to Holmes and Bosworth, current Oscar nominee (for Best Supporting Actress) Cate Blanchett was also in town for fashion week. Although she seemed a little more concerned about her kids' fashion when we saw her shopping for children's clothes!
